HELP Predator Problems!
The other day I loaded the original tune back to the truck. The predator come up with a (did not install). Tried it again now locked out. Called Predator and they unlocked it. Then loaded up the 65hp setting with some minor problems with trans (was having trouble before also with trans) Getting worse and worse I decided to reload the factory tune back and now.... A/C starts out on defrost(on vents) and then switches to vents and you hear the valve flutter as it switches, The trans takes forever to go into gear especially reverse(sometimes pulsing). When in drive it must be almost floored to engage the converter, it just feels like i am standing on the brake or pulling a house. Try to shift into 1 2 3 just stays the same as if it was in D. When I stop it feels like someone hit me from behind due to the down shifting or shifting out of gear. Turbo whine goes up and down while driving steady. Also it seem like the whine just kicks in when it wants, I will be stopping and no whine and then like someone turned on a switch I hear it again.
Any clues? Thanks!!!!

No Parking brake.
Bob, I ran the predator for some time and then went back to the edge. The only part that i had loaded was the speed delimiter. I did try the stacking thing when i first got my predator but the coolant over fill leaked bad and it actually does it on most of the settings on the predator with out stacking but it was bad stacked.

That is some silly crap. It is amazing how interwoven all these components are. Just reading about what has to be done to relearn everything after adding a new battery. Trans of course, a/c idle, fuel, and others I am sure. All of these FORD (strategies) could indirectly or directly cause another to go crazy….CRAZY.

Tim,
Yea ran fine i just feared the worst so didnt want to push it. Now that Matt has his truck back and is running it stacked i will see what happens to him then i will try again. I have very bad memories of my over boosted(15psi stock block) VW VR6 SCCA car. Head gaskets ring lans.....money, money, mo money.

OB can do it
.. how did it take initial throttle….my curiosity is from 600 up to 2600…lots of smoke, any hesitation or what

It seemed to have a reverse effect. To me it was slower than just the edge not alot of smoke. Temps were high, coolant overflow. I did try the predator in the 100hp setting then while driving cycle through the setting on the edge, there was a difference in power but worth the risk....Na. Now if you just did the edge and went through the setting while floored HOLY S>.., it was like having a 150 shot of NOS!

After reading the title of this thread I thought there was a problem with the Predator. Now after reading the entire thread, I surmise that you loaded the Predator on top of an Edge? Then you say the Ford design of the PCM is "silly crap". Don't blame Predator or Ford. Do yourself a big favor and learn the system before you go modifying it. You will get a lot better results.
A title like you have is very misleading.

The EGT's are actually fine, even running it hard it usually doens't bump my 1450 degree warning (I think ive only hit it twice)
Maybe I can get SCMT to turn the timing down on my unit without changing anything else.

WOW SBV45 .. That why i hate email and posts and all of this impersonal crap. Thing people type can be taken the wrong way especially with people like you looking to start with anyone.. Unfortunately there is no other way but to take your post negatively and with a slight attitude. This time I will try to type slower and more clear so that you may under stand where I am coming from.
When I said silly crap I was referring to the process to replace a battery. I understand the process and why but I have never heard of anything(my first diesel) like that before even coming from a 15 year 12v background.
I also mentioned that it was amazing how involved the system was.
Now if you knew the system then you would know you can not load a predator on top of the edge. The predator is smart enough to know the edge is there. So if you care to know it has to be done in reverse order. Predator first then edge after.
I did try to tune both, kind of like a well respected guy on here is doing right now. And if you read my threads you would have know that I was not comfortable running both power settings and chose just to remove the speed limiter.
Never did I blame ford or predator I merely mentioned the steps taken up to my problem. Although I did feel it was odd my problems came after we had to force the factory tune.
As for you, Next time you half a$$ read a thread and want to correct a person make sure you understand what they are taking about. And respond with out the attitude and negativity and you will achieve better results.
