Explorer Sport Trac
LAST EDITED ON 22-Jun-01 AT 07:06 PM (EST)[p]Kinda looks like a Supercab Shortbed Ranger that Godzilla sat on and mangled. Perhaps that's why they think it's a truck. Maybe GM (them Japomax lovin freaks) paid 'Zilla to sabotage Ford vehicles.
(Lets review, I insulted the Exp SpTrk, Duramax, Godzilla, and GM while still giving a stupid answer. Wow.)

LAST EDITED ON 23-Jun-01 AT 01:57 AM (EST)[p]The Ranger has always done very well without the aid of a factory V8. I think the only reason Ford would put a V8 in a ranger is if sales started to slump. Then the Factory V8 would probably bring sales way up again. Besides, it would take the fun out of us people who like to jam things into these vehicles that just never was meant to be.

Edit: I have seen pictures of the 4 door ranger on the net. But they were ones from europe and africa or australia. They did not even look like fords if you ask me. My girlfriend claims she saw a 4 door ranger in Minnesota. Do the ones in mexico look the same as the ones in the states? Or like the ones overseas.?
People who say it can't be done should not interrupt the person doing it.

Hate to burst all your "it's not a truck" bubbles, but the Sport AND Sport Trac are based on the Ranger platform, not the Explorer. They are more truck than you think.
Ford makes a 4 Dr Ranger for South America. There very well may have been one in Minnesota, since Twin Cities makes Rangers.

What is the definition of a truck anyway? Thirty years ago there was no problem telling a truck from a car, but now who knows. If it has a full frame and rear wheel drive/four wheel drive is it a truck? I know my '95 F150 is a truck. It even has a truck engine. That's right, the 300 I6 never (to the best of my knowledge) has been factory installed in a car. A real truck with a truck engine. Is my wife's Aerostar a truck? I think so. It seems to have a fairly beefy full frame, though largely welded to or part of the body pan, and it rides more like a truck. Surely the Windstar is not a truck, but a car--more specifically, a station wagon. The Explorer Sport Track is a truck, but its load capacity is hardly more than the Aerostar, except you can stand a fridge up in it. These are all fine vehicles (of course, they are made by Ford!) that meet special needs for folks with different situations. I am just happy that I am able to stick with a pickup truck.
