Rear Wiper doesn't work on my 93 Explorer xlt
Hi, this is my first post so here goes. I have a 93 Explorer and the rear wiper motor quit working. I took it to a mechanic and he said the fuses were all good so he said it had to be the switch or the rear wiper motor itself. He quoted me about $150 so I called around and spent $45.00 for both from a junk yard. After installing them, I still don't have any power. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. I did check the washer pump and it works when tested seperately. But I have been told there is a switch in the tailgate or some type of relay. Rog

Hi Trucker Rog,
There is a switch in the rear hatch mechanism that prevents the wiper operation when the window is open. You will have to remove the interior panel on the hatch and either remove or replace the switch. It is located just inside of where the catch rod for the glass latches into the hatch. Just be sure that if you don't replace it, that you don't run the wiper with the window open as you can damage the wiper arm, motor, glass, etc...

I checked the diable switch and it is good. I took a wire and fed it to another fuse to give it a different power source and it is only on when the ignition is on, but I can't get the motor to go to the park position. I checked the switch on the dash and it is good also but I fed the wire from the white wire to the other fuse. How can I get it to go back to the park position? Right now I moved the arm so it does'nt obstuct my view and I can open the glass hatch... Also, what is a good fix for scratches on the back glass. There must have been sand on the window and the previous owner must have been too lazy to clear it or to cheap to flood the window with wiper fluid prior to turning on the wiper. I heard that there is some liquid glass to fill in the voids where the glass is pitted! Any help would be much appreciated. :-staun
