Glove Box / console lock

Does anyone know of a way to install a lock on either the glove compartment or the console.? Has anyone done this? My dealer says Ford does not have parts available...

Well, I suppose if you are a handy guy you could get a lock cylinder and locate one on your door. Get the cylinder that is most common. It's the same one you see on canopies, tonneau covers, furniture ect....
Beware though. If someone sees the custom lock, it will give them a bigger drive to bust out your windows.

You got it.....The CCW law here says "locked compartment". We all know there's no security in a locked glove box.......but you still have to comply.....

Glove Box Lock

At first I was thinking you were nuts, but after you said that, I understand. It's nice to know there's other people out there that aren't afraid to say they carry a gun! We need more of us.

Wouldn't the cab itself be a locked compartment? it's got doors and locks. Don't say nothing about size or space. Then again, I would carry it on me instead of locking it up (if I could). Dang, Canadian laws.

I had the same problem with my truck. I had one of my guns stolen out of my 99 f150. Now that i have ordered a new 150 i am concerned about this again. I am a law enforcement officer so i can carry just about anywhere but there are a few places that we cant. I have been searching for a lock box for a truck and i found a small thin box that was foam insulated and had a cable attached to it so you could lock it around your seat post. It was big enough to fit a 1911 model 45 caliber and one spare clip. I found this item on ebay but i was out bid . I contacted the seller but he wouldnt tell me who manufactured them but did say that he has a few of these and would be listing another soon. It sold for around 30 bucks. Hope this helps. Good luck, and please lock up those guns, The last thing we need is more criminals with guns.

I think this is what you're referring to:

I got one with the cable (travel kit) and it's great.

Well...not being able to see one...........and seeing that it doesn't exist.......its kinda hard to decide just what I'd pay......but its an interesting concept.....the overhead rail system is pretty much useless as is...IMHO.

I think they come in 6", 8" and 10". I put mine under my seat and wrap the cable around the seal mounts to secure it. All you have to do is reach under your seat to get it. It's also nice because you can move it easily from car to car or to your house or hotel room.

I keep my S&W 642 in it with two speed strips. But, I've also had my Kahr P9 in there too.
