My hunch the ford would win like it always has.

SBV45 you said it wasn't a gooseneck so he was pulling 21,000 off of his stock hitch, bet that truck was squating! That is one tough hitch lol

And if you played tug of war with a cummins, you would probally loss, the cummins makes all it's power at 1600rpm, just barley off idle, maybe if you both had autos you could use your low first gear to compensate for his huge low end torque, but if you were both manuals I would think he would win.
Anybody can say anything on the web but data proves that the 6.0 makes more horespower and torque than Dodge or Chevy. Opinions don't matter much except when folks don't want to be confused by the facts. The facts are the Z-71 and dodge cummins are left in the dust by the Ford 6.0. Check all the independent sources, magazines, Consumer reports, if you are really interested.

When it comes to the circus tent tractor and truck pulls, cummins power nearly always wins because cummins makes a lot of larger engines that slip right in. I have a friend who was a national champion tractor pull a few years back. These engines have more in common with AA/FD fuel dragster engines than anything that is commonly used for farming or transportation. Cummins will always have an advantage in this specialized sport.

With a chip, SVT Lightnings and GT Mustangs don't stand a chance.
MaXRSmart may need to check his times for the Lightning and Mustang GT. I believe the Mustang is around 14.0 in the 1/4 mile, and the Lightning is in the high-13's stock...so they definitely "stand a chance." With a few cheap mods, the Lightning is in 12's.

A 6.0 with a 100+ HP chip, launched in 4WD, may hit a 14.0 1/4 mile time. I've heard a few reports in the high-13's. My F-250 4x4 CrewCab has the Predator 65HP tune, and it certainly feels like it will run a mid to high 14 sec 1/4 mile.

Regarding the backhoe, I don't think the guy in the Z71 was racing the 6.0 pulling the backhoe up the hill...
But I do believe he was going up the hill at a good clip and was
pretty surprised to see all that steel moving up the grade so fast!

The thing is, you can run a 14.0 1/4 mile AND pull a 15,000
pound load with a chipped 6.0! The 6.0 is infinitely more versatile
and roomy than either the Mustang or the Lightning.

SMiller has a very valid point with the hard numbers.

The cummins makes 600 foot pounds of torque at 1600rpm, are you confused by the facts????? That is more then a 6.0 and comes on a hell of a lot sooner!!! I like the 6.0s but come on!!! And yes the old 12 valve cummins could make some big power having the inline pumps, but it really did (does) not have any advantage over the V-8s, the baddest tractor out there is running a cat 3208!!!!! Thats right one of the lowest horse V-8 diesels ever produced. The tractor is called the silver bullet in case you have not seen it. I have a friend with a 6.0 auto with a 100hp edge box and yes a lighting will take it. A stock 6.0 will take the average car or truck, but you can't compare it to lighter faster vehicals and think that it is going to be faster.

Here is another test for these diesel trucks. Put em all in apickup pull. Have these trucks Pull down the track time after time until something fails on the truck so they can't pull anymore. My bet is the ford would still be going and the others stopped. That would be the ultimate test of atruck of a truck. Endurance. Anybody have a video of that. Didn't thinkso.

What kind of chip is the best to buy? I'm thinking of putting a 100 hp chip on my 2004 F-250 King Ranch 6.0. I was told you shouldn't pull a trailer with the settings over 80hp. I'm going to the track this spring to run my buddy in his suped up F-150. I want to pack his doors!

OJ...
tough question...
right up there with which is best ?
gas or diesel,
beer or wine,
men or women

but I have had good results with the Diablo programmer...
no chip, just software done in 3 minutes from the drivers seat....

Most importantly - EXCELLENT shfting,
unlike MANY of the reports I hear about MOST of the 6-oh modules

I got mine by calling the supporters of this grat site or by clicking on these blue words here --> Diablo Predator

This is the Motorhaven crew that runs this EXCELLNT site...
great people, great one day delivery service, 30 day return policy, and will probably beat most prices you find if you call them...

and if you search the post for comments by those that have gotten them you will see we've updated them over the Web...

GET ONE !!! you think you're truck responds well now ?
just wait and you'll be saying WOW just like the rest of us...

They say diesel has 1/3 more energy per gallon. If the auto engineers get serious here as they are in europe...look out!

Do you live in the same universe as the rest of us. Ford 6.0 and dependability are 2 words that don't belong together yet - If there this was a discussion of 7.3 litre you may have an argument. For all of you that keep on referencing the Chevy Z71 that's a gasser 5.3 or 4.6 litre, so who cares! Z71 is nothing more then a Chevy 1/2 ton with skid plates and the bilstien shock package.

I don't doubt that the 6.0 chipped with something can be a screamer - but lets keep it 'real'
