Thanks

Thanks Sinister for explaining your perception of the Duramax, what you say makes good sense.

Go over to the 6.0 forum and answer this for yourself. I'd say no. Mine is not one of the first 1000 built and it's a very unreliable, poor running truck. Facts like Ford turning off the pilot injection system on all the 6.0, even the new ones, tells me the problems are NOT fixed or worked out.

Sadly Jeb, you seem right, as doing some research on several sites seems to indicate alot of 04 models having the same 03 problems, as stalling, dead pedal and leaks, poor mileage and low power.

Ok, I went a bit overboard here...lol. But I made my point.

Anyway, glad to hear about your decision on the Super Duty Lariat, but what happened to keeping your F150 till the wheels fall off ? I can't really blame you though, if I werent saving for a new Mustang I'd have one too.(Can't trade my truck on this car, and I would'int get much for it anyway if I did)
These Super Duties are some sweet trucks, but your probably better off waiting until 2005, unless your one of those who just HAS to have front
leaf springs. 3 valve 5.4 and V10 motors will be available then as well as
the new 5 speed auto (if that's your flavor). PSD??? Well....at least by
2005' your PROBABLY less likely to have as many problems as many buyers are having now - which is also somewhat fewer than what 2003 buyers have had.
Good luck .

It is sad. I want to be happy with this truck. I didn't get rid of a perfect dmax/allison on this $52k truck hoping to be looking at DSB and Lemon Laws. I'm glad there a lot of folks happy with the 6.0 but mine just keeps getting worse. I was told today at lunch time when I went and talked with the local Ford service folks that they aren't going to try and fix it anymore so off we go to DSB land, apprently.

Jeb, I dont think I would go through the DSB, seems it puts you at a disadvantage..Go through all the 6.0 buyback info below. Im not speaking from Experience obviously, but seems that your better to get an attorney and pursue the lemon law and a buyback route.
Still cant understand how FORD can just say, we arent fixing it anymore.
I mean isnt that what warranties are all about? Theres that great Ford Service again.. And my Stepdads a Ford Service Manager..L

Good Luck, And Keep us Posted

Most states pretty much require you to submit to the DSB process before you can go LL. MN is one of those. I spent some time the last couple of weeks looking at all of this as I anticipated the local place was building up to this response. They're telling me that the reason my truck is slower and has dead pedal now is because the turbo they replaced was over boosting so I had more power than I should have. Yeah, right. I always felt it was slower than my dmax but at least it had instant power down low.

I called Ford and got the ball rolling. I'm sure it'll be months before we get to the conclusion of this one. I don't know if I have a winning case or not but it's sure worth a try. I'm so dissatisfied with the truck now, I feel I have nothing to loose by trying. 5 turbo related performance problems (turbo, EGR twice, turbo actuator two or three times, something that controls the EGR voltage), wiring harness problems, FICM computer, 2 oil leaks and 2 flashes. All since November of last year on a brand new truck. 8800 miles on it now.

I read something where if you disconnected the EGR valve it cleared up the problems, I believe it was Superdutyjoe who said that.

Thanks for explaining that to me, I know from reading that the DSB had put them at a Disadvantage, but i guess it makes sense. More or Less your State is saying they will give Ford a chance first to settle, then If they dont, THEN you can pursue the lemon law.

Good luck!

jeb, sorry about your experience with your truck, and good luck, I hope that you get what you are after. Ford service does lack quite a bit sometimes.

Now, how many 6.0s had the problem exactly, there, sinister73?
