buy '03 6.0 PSD leftover in spite of problems?

I am thinking of purchasing a '03 F250 6.0 PSD leftover at a local dealership. I am A plan and currently there's a $3K rebate; so it would be a really good deal. I have been reading about the flash problems. Not sure what the flashes are supposed to correct.

I don't have the build date of the truck but VIN is 1FTNX21P33EB43802. I think its an early '03 since base price is $30535. If the truck checks out OK should I refrain from any flashes until the right one comes out.

Thanks

I can't run the VIN, but I looked at a lot of '03s on lots and the serial numbers seem to run EA, EB, EC and EDxxxxx. I never saw one with EE. If they run in sequence, then it would be a build date maybe around Oct-Nov '02? Some of the ED codes had a sticker date in May and June '03.

If you have APlan access, you ought to be able to get someone to run the OASIS check on it--will tell you what was done by dealers while on lot. Would make sure it has the later injectors in it, or make the dealer change them to make the sale. They should do latest flash to it before you buy it.

Check for recals

You can check for recalls at https://myford.fordvehicles.com/serv...e&ord=65664630
Just sign up like you already bought the truck and check for recalls.
I bought one last week, No recalls. Mine runs great! no problems at all. That is about what I paid for mine. Great deal!

On the other hand, if this "great deal" turns out to be a jeckyl and hyde situation your going to spend alot of time getting to know the service manager, etc. Then, your going to get a good education about the minute detail of the Lemon Law in your state and what you will have to do to finally get your money back. After all the Hell that SOME owners of '03 trucks have had to go thru do you really want take that chance??? Personally , I'd wait till the 'o5 models come out which really isn't that far away when you think about it. Also, have you given any consideration to what the RESALE value will be on your truck??? I've heard that the resale value is in the crapper. Good luck with your decision.......s.kuteman
