Its been all over the interwebs....

Originated with a social media post, I think someone posted a Saudi super duty that also had no US emissions equipment on it a while back. The export models are out there, wonder if you could grey market them in a few years....
Do they run diesel or JP-8 through these trucks? Just curious.....

Stateside we had 3/4 ton and 1 ton plow trucks and range trucks and not 1 diesel. Every truck Ford, GM or Ram was a gas truck. There was no DEF at any military fuel points. If it was that heavy it got hauled by a 5-ton or bigger not a 1-ton diesel.

If they are being operated out of an American base they are running JP-8. The military doesn't supply diesel anywhere abroad I've ever been. We used to have a platoon that ran a fuel storage site and they ran 350gpm pumps 12 hours/day 365 days/year just to circulate the 1-2 million gallons of JP-8 and 200k gallons of Mogas. The filters had to be changed weekly because of algae buildup. They also did Aqua-glo testing for water content multiple times per day and weren't allowed to dispense any unless it was below a certain percentage.

DEF does not make the trucks less reliable.
Reason for not having the military trucks have it is because many less developed countries do not have the same emission standards that the US and EU have, so they do not have DEF in those places.
All you have to do if you don't like the emissions requirements is get an old truck.

I know Ram for sure has a lot of issues with their DEF system, not sure about Duramax set ups.

My '87 F350 (gas engine) was USN surplus and had no catalytic converter. Since the government doesn't know to which countries these vehicles will be deployed, they must allow for various fuels. In 1987, many countries still did not have unleaded gasoline. Both fuel fillers on mine were the old large diameter size ... ran leaded fuel whenever I could find it.
