77.5 f250 same as 78 250 rear leaf springs?

As the title suggests, I was wondering if the ‘77.5 and 78’ rear springs are the same, (same bushing, same spring, same length etc.), because I snapped one of my rear springs, and a local junkyard has rear springs in a 78 f250 for 100 bucks a pack

If it is for sure a late made 1977 and not the Highboy (2 1/4 wide rear springs). Then I am 99% sure they are the same in all dimensions you are asking about. Now are you going from a 4wd to a 4wd? The would matter as far as GVWR. So some packs are rated for more weight. As long as you change BOTH you should be ok. And get new u bolts. Those fine thread u bolts can be a bear to get off and not strip or bind up the nut. Are you getting them with the rear shackle also? And you are getting new hdwr right?

Ok so all the signs point to yours is a 77.5 to 79 4wd. And the parts truck is the same? I would see if you can get the shackles (that are already connected to the replacement leaf springs) as part of the deal.

Reason being is because the way they assembly them at the factory, one of the shackle bolts (top one, shackle to leaf) is put together before it is installed on the truck. So it has the bolt head facing the frame and you can not get it out, unless you can rotate the leaf and shackle all the way around. And that means you have to have the bed off.

And this is just in case you can not get the other one (shackle to hanger) off, as in the bolt out. Some times you have to zip wheel the bolt head and nut side off. So come time you put them back together change the installation direction on the shackle to leaf bolt. Making the nut be on the frame side. Make sense?

I discovered that assembly set up can be a PITA when the shackle to hanger bolt will not come out. But the upper one would, luckily I had the bed already off and just rotated the whole leaf assembly and that got the bolt to clear the frame.
