2004 f250 super duty: No electrical power at all...

Hey all,

New to the forum. Have a 2004 F250 5.4 3v. Recently hit the rumble strips on the highway and the truck completely shut off. No power steering, brakes went hard etc. No lights on the dashboard at all. Whenever i turn the key i get nothing. I have checked fuses; grounds from the battery look perfeclty fine. Battery is brand new as of 2 weeks ago, battery connections are working on the outside as well as the inside. I get no OBD2 response at all. Ive hit a bunch of important relays and fuses with a multimeter and still nothing. Not even the lights in the cab.

Kind of perplexed here. Never had a single problem with the truck. If anyone has any ideas or needs any more info, feel free to reply!

Do all of your testing from the battery, meaning it you are testing a fuse for + go to the battery- with the other lead. This should tell you if it's a + or - problem. I'm guessing main grounds. An incandescent test light works good for this hook up to battery + and check block, body, frame.
I don't know the wiring on your specific truck, so I can't help with that. But really it's just a testing game, find out what you lost and where.

Probably a broken connection at the junction block.

A 2004 F-250 5.4L would be a 2V engine, not a 3V. Super Duty trucks didn't get the 3V engines until 2005.

Start with the simple. Clean the battery terminals and cables with a battery terminal cleaner. Check your battery for voltage output.

Problem solved!

Junction box. Amazing. EXACTLY like the other article I was linked, the wire coming from the fuse box to the junction box was cut clean. Now my question is, do I have to buy a whole new wiring harness to fix this or is there something easier?

Most posters who have followed up simply jury-rigged it with a clamp or bolt then wrapped it in electrical tape to insulate it. YMMV.

Do disconnect the battery before working on this otherwise you risk shorting the battery feed directly to the chassis and that ain't a good thing.

Thank you everyone for your replies!

Simply cut some insulation back, fit onto a small lead and bolted it down. Problem solved for now. I’m having my mechanic look at it in a few weeks to get it “properly” fixed, but this was an easy fix. Thank you every one for your replies and for the info!
