SPE CCV bypass hose, and extension hose oopsie

I was changing my oil last weekend, and as I was rolling underneath the truck I happened to notice that the vapor hose from the SPE CCV bypass had separated from the extension hose that was routed along the frame to behind the cab area.

WTH? The plastic nipple that joined the hose from the engine bay to the extension was broken in two... Grrr. Must've broken due to vibration against the frame, I reckon.

So, word to the wise for those that use the plastic nipple joiner supplied with the extension hose kit; toss the plastic one and get a steel or brass one instead. Lesson learned...

Amazon Amazon

I was wondering why I was smelling fumes, as the two hoses joined right beneath the driver window, lol... Should be good to go again, now

So you're saying SPE ships those kits with a plastic hose mender instead of brass?

Disregard I see you would have to supply your own I'd assume...

The hose extension kit ships with a plastic nipple joiner, which under normal circumstances would work, I reckon. But, I think that the way I routed the hose sections tightly along the frame might've caused stress between the two hose pieces due to vibration.

So, yeah, I bought a brass one to replace it. Being a diesel you'd think they would've just shipped a brass or steel one, but I digress.

I'm overkill so I know if I needed or rather installed that kit, I'd go brass no doubt... Lot of money to be paying for a plastic nipple IMO...

Hell, I bought stainless steel hose menders when I extended my catch can hoses to make room for the S&S DPK kit... But I'm OVERKILL...
