For my driving the STX is the least of the worries unless there are some visual changes it offers that you like. Took those stickers off my 2023 first thing. My 2000 had the V10 and it would have been in my 2016 if it was offered. My 2023 was on the lot but 90% of what I would have ordered so I got it. I loved the V10, but I think the 7.3 Godzilla has it beat. Note I only have 1500 miles on the 2023 and comparing it to the V10 that was in my 2000. My 2000 also had a manual transmission. As for mileage, if you are worried about that get a 150 or Prius.
My wife likes the STX looks with the black trim and rims. That's the only reason we're considering it.

You can’t get the center console in a XL (not even the STX). The smaller screen in the XL is still the standard 8” screen, which is the same that comes in the XLT.
A 6.8 STX and a base 7.3 XLT are very close in price, but the XLT won’t have LED headlights, 360 cameras, and a few other things that the STX comes with.
I’ve been building a bunch of them on Fords site, because I’m thinking about ordering one. I really want the STX for the LEDs, but I really want the XLT for the center console.
The cable is still out at the house (TV & internet)

They are the "normal" LED headlights for 2023. The only way to get the projector LED headlights is with a Platinum or Limited trim.

I noticed no real difference in output.
but worth mentioning is the new 23 seems like the top and bottom match in appearance when the lights are on
whereas my 21 led projectors didn’t and it always bothered part of my OCD
mother big plus is you can do bulb replacement on the 23 I’m assuming whereas the 21 projectors were sealed units making that impossible

A couple dealers in my area are doing invoice. Chapman Ford in PA is doing 1% under, and Granger in IA is doing 2% under on orders.

My 2023 Lariat was $100 below invoice. Also got decent $$$ for the trade. Not sure if it matters, but a customer came to the dealer and had them build the truck online but he didn’t order. Dealer forgot to cancel the order and the truck showed up. I was very surprised to find a 4.3 truck on the lot as that was one of my must haves.

The options that pushed me from the XL to the XLT were the option of the center console, power folding mirrors, and the Tremor package. Even without the Tremor package, I likely would have stayed with the XLT due to the console and mirror options. You can add the 360 camera to a standard XLT as well, and also the carpet delete, which I do not believe is an option with the XL STX. I actually prefer the standard grill/chrome bumpers over the STX or SAP, and figure I can always swap out to LED bulbs if the halogens are lacking. Leather and heated seats if wanted can always be done with Katzkins as already noted. Only option I wanted but had to compromise on was the 12" screen, but the 8" is 8 inches bigger than any screen I have had in the past, and from a visual assessment, looks like it may be an easy swap down the road if someone wanted to pursue it.

Try to order one at invoice. If its really a spare vehicle with tow duty in mind get the 7.3/4.30 so you have no regrets.
Not worth the dilemma, get the STX. The jump seat is fine, have had both. Only downside is lots of drinks and miscellaneous on road trips make the center console useable but otherwise its fine.
Just be glad she hasn’t discovered dual climate or noticed the back AC vents with the center console. To get the sport look with all that is quite a jump $.
She'll drive it more. It'll haul the toys to the dunes and etc. but she works from home most days and I have a 30 mile commute so I'll be driving the 4-banger to work. I wanted to look at Rams, as well but she said she won't tolerate the electronic dial to put it in gear 😆.

I do agree... the STX package is pretty darned pricey, particularly when compared to the XLT... but when I bought mine, beggars couldn't be choosers, I had to take what I could get.
As far as the motor, I always buy the absolute biggest motor I can... and I filled an inside straight when my STX came with the 7.3.
In my mind, aluminum wheels are supposed to be shiny... not painted black... so it took a while for the whole black/white thing to grow on me. I would rather have the white and chrome XLT, but, again, you takes what you can gets.
