Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 37.5, heavy overcast and it doesn't look like it is going to be drying out anytime soon.
It was almost a perfect day - would have been a perfect day except Gary and I both spent too much money!
We got up to Woodland and drove right to the factory as if we had been there 100 times. That's probably not a really good sign. Met Gary Loomis, the man himself and several of his #1 people. His #1 Alpha who was on the NW Fishing show this past weekend took us on a tour of the plant that was just down right interesting. Pretty fantastic how they can start off with a blank metal insert (that is eventually is pulled out), wrap it with thin carbon sheets you can easily tear by hand and end up with a fishing pole you can dang near bend in half.
Anyway it was a pretty interesting day. G Loomis does his poles as EDGE now - an interesting story in and of itself.
The store was pretty neat offering pretty much a full line of NW specific fishing tackle and bait. One of the fellows was even gave a newby and his son a lesson on how to rig up a 360 right down to the lure. They had bought the gear they needed and he tied one up for him showing him how to do it and as an example for him to take home and use as a template to put his own set ups together.
At any rate, they do a 20% military discount and that kind of got my buddy, Gary and I both into a little trouble. He found a Steelhead Pole his brother wanted so he picked that up and we took it to him in Dallas on the way home.
As for Gary and I we didn't bring anything home for ourselves. Well, we did bring home a Brad's Super Bait Cut Plug, "Glow Frog" model. That was free! $0.00 which is always good. The problem was, I think they gave them out as a sympathy gift AFTER Gary and I each ordered a Custom built rod for ourselves. They'll be here in 4 to 6 weeks.
So, we decided we needed to "ask for forgiveness" on the home front so, we gathered up the wives and finished out the day with a trip to Abby's Pizza in Dallas.
Jim - that sound like a good way to spend the day. I have built a lot of my own rods and built some for others as well. I'm not sure it's really cheaper to build them than to just buy them. I only have one G Loomis and it's an awesome rod but I got it on clearance and it was only $200. I couldn't pass it up. haha.

Good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Long wet day today.
Nope, not saying that at all but it did work as a pretty good diversion and bought me a few more minutes of breathing time..

Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 41.1 and wet. Clouds broke for a brief period and we are actually seeing some sunshine. It'll be gone in a couple of minutes. Solid gray overcast is already covering us up coming in from the West.

Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Having a heat wave this morning with a high of 48.9. Heavy overcast but dry for now. Wx guessers say there is only a 40% chance of rain until tonight when it increases to 60%.

Good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Took off this afternoon and went over to Taft and Cascade head. Overcast, 58 degrees but the wind chill made it seem a bit more chilly than that.
