Morning all. Sitting here listening and watching the ocean crashing on the beach while sitting in the dinette of the trailer. Nice to have friends with a beach front RV spot.

Good afternoon, Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Been up at the "club" for an early morning clean up and work party. Back home now.

So, our home internet is now all on the cell phone "hot spot". Internet Service has been out since last night. After being told by a "really smart computer" that answered the call that an automated test of my system indicated a serious problem and I must schedule an appointment with the service technician. Took 4 calls to get around that stupid computer and to actually talk to a live person. The live person told me the service in our area was suffering a system outage. I told her that that I suspected that was the problem and didn't need to schedule an appointment with a service tech for $75 to tell me it was their problem not mine.

Like the beer fridge Rich! The sunset view is pretty neat as well.

I find I'm really torn between your beach picture and pictures taken for the deck on the place we are looking at near La Pine and Gilchrist....

One of the real estate plugs for the property in a video with a narrator that sounds like Rex Allen is "sitting on the deck drinking coffee in the morning and watching "the front yard come to life". I told the Warden that I would be sitting on the deck with coffee and the rifle.
The only thing she could think to say was "There goes my flowers and the garden"!

A couple of years ago Wave started dropping the ball. I attributed some of that to rapid expansion into new markets and leaving us with old outdated equipment so they could get into the new markets with the "good stuff".
Now Wave has changed to "Astound" powered by Wave. As far as I'm concerned it gone into the toilet since then. They have done away with traditional cable, cable boxes and DVR's and gone mostly streaming. They have messed around with the Internet packages in that a lot of subscribers being forced into the new streaming package are finding themselves in the old scam of being $100 or $200 in the hole with unexpected overage charges on data. We found ourselves in that situration when they took our regular cable box and DVR and gave us that no option plane streaming box. I dumped everything cable TV right after that, increased the data plan to unlimited and went with Direct TV streaming. Really have no other viable choice for internet. We've been toying with possibly going with Direct TV via satellite, using the cell phone hot spot for the web since we now have 4K unlimited data for no extra charge.

The Warden has been doing more research on that place up near Gilchrist that has captured our her attention. They are calling the second 'house-building' on the place (down by the river) as a "fully equipped' game room?????
Looks to me like a guest house but it is loaded with gaming stuff that is described as the "Game Room". I'd keep the pool table, but it wouldn't hurt my feelings if they took all the games and knocked $20K off the price.

We've been by it many times as well, usually coming home from Diamond Lake or when we go into La Pine to the Restaurant for dinner. It's quite a ways south of the 31 junction. Directions say it is 20 minutes south of La Pine. It sits way back off the 'new' Hwy 97N and down the hill to the river that it can't be seen from 97. We were right by there last Sept. when we came up from Diamond Lake on the day trip we took down to Fort Rock and Christmas Valley. Didn't even know it was there - even with the red roof. We weren't looking for either though. I was actually looking for a little impromptu semi-formal rifle range that is in that area. Didn't find it either.

A lot of things to take into consideration such as medical, etc. St. Charles is an excellent Hospital, but we would still need to establish a new PCP and heart specialist for the Warden.
After Military and our transfer to Roseburg when I was still LEO, I know darn good and well there will be home sick trips back here. A lot of friends, former co-workers for both of us and my hunting and fishing partner. He and his brothers went to school with the Warden and he, his older brother and I were all Army together. It was funny because after all those years in Winchester - Roseburg, when we moved back here on retirement, other than some friends that we still go to see, we didn't miss it at all. It took us 4 or 5 years to go back to our old house in Winchester at the N. Umpqua River. When we did, there had been so much construction and changes that we were actually glad we got out when we did. Hated it. We haven't been back to the old house since.

But, we are a long ways from going anywhere just yet. And we know there is every possibility that it will be sold before we could make a solid move on it, if that is even what we want to do after we spend a day touring the property, checking out utilities, septic tank, drain fields, well and how good a well it is. A lot of research has to go into a pretty remote rural piece of property. We end up there, it wouldn't surprise me that we don't need to look into some type of snow moving equipment just to get out to Hwy 97. Lot's of considerations.

Who builds a seperate cabin for just a gameroom? Haha. That place is pretty cool but I agree it could be guest house...or a vbro/airb&b so maybe some income potential? That's what the wife would see. I don't like people so I see it as my mancave. Looks like a nice place.

Nice morning on the beach. That's the one nice thing about being mobile is you're mobile. I think i need to play the lotto more.

Currently the 11.4 acre split off from the 46 acres has been listed for 142 days with the new fence divider from the Equestrian compound. Makes me wonder what type of problems (other than price) is associated with it. The Warden found some history of property sales for it dating back a number of years. 2 or 3 years ago it was listed at over 2 mil with all buildings and 46 acres. I think, putting 2+2 together, all 46 and buildings may have sold last August for around 1.5 mil. Older pics show the blue carpet throughout and current pics only show it in the master bedroom with the hardwood floors through the rest.
I don't know if the buyers didn't want the house, and were just after the equestrian facilities, or if they bit off more than they can chew and are selling off the 'attractive' 11 acres with river frontage as a salvage / bail out move. The listing shows the 11 acres has been on the market for 142 days (as of this morning) this time around. We'll get some of those answers if we decide to actually go over, talk to the real estate agent and do an eyeball on type of due diligence. Which, it appears, the Warden seems to be focusing on to the exclusion of some other places we have found.

Every summer and fall when we head down to Diamond Lake, (55 minutes away) we always spend a couple of days (or more) after a morning fish, just driving around seeing what there is to see but never with the intent of moving to that part of the country. When we were out at Hole in the Ground, Fort Rock and Christmas Valley last September the thought of moving to that area didn't even cross our minds. The last time we had done the "home search" or looking around in that area with the intent to buy or move, was when I was retiring from the cop shop. Everything seemed pretty expensive, and I had that 'family' seated idea of carrying on the horse ranch - farm that had been in the family since pre civil war.

We've been looking all over the state, including a log home just out of John Day & K Falls. But, if we are really going to do this, I can't seem to get excited about anything too far south of Cresent or too far east of 97. I don't want any closer to Bend than La Pine.

Great minds think alike! That was pretty much my sentiments. The Warden kept saying the games seem to come with the place. I kept saying "I hope not" or "I doubt it - they're just using it for cannon fodder to confuse & jack up the price." Well, not to be out done, she did an even deeper dive, and it appears the games do come with the place. Found several Real Estate descriptions that had the phrase, "Comes with (or complete with) a fully equipped separate Game Room." If it were mine, I would suddenly become very "green" and pull the plug on it.

My suspicions are that this place was being run as a short-term equestrian get away - BYOH - guest ranch type of thing. The indoor and the outdoor arena's, the bunk rooms in the indoor arena, the little bunk house cabins that line the outdoor arena..........all of this adding up to and being complimented by the "game" room for "off horse" recreation.
I have absolutely no aspirations for going into the guest business and dealing with any people who aren't friends wanting to stop by for a visit and some hunting, fishing & a beer. Beer being the optiuonal component. That place is within minutes of Diamond Lake, Davis Lake, Wickiup, Odell, Crane Prarie. No time for catering to overnighter type tourists.
I suspect that we will take a trip up there real shortly for a hands / eyes on look see. I think I have pretty much so lost that argument.. Just a little worried about how things go after our family turmoil has had a chance to wind down, cool off and gets some distance put between us and it.
I've already been told I can keep my saddle, but we are not getting back into horses. So...I'm working on a riding lawn mower and a Rzr! The Warden has already found a couple of other interesting properties in that general area. Kind of seems like maybe the writing on the wall is becoming more engraved instead of just sidewalk chalk.
