I used oven cleaner, sos pad and elbow grease and it stripped the anodize with no issue. Then buffed out on stationary buffer wheel. You do have to protect if you go this route as it will take oxidize and be hard to keep clean. I experienced this so ended up painting for less maintenance.

I redid all the trim on my truck. I used this
it worked great. Wear gloves! I brushed it on and let it sit till the aluminum was turned dull gray. No scrubbing required and it cut out all the anodizing and left it ready to polish or repair as needed. As you polish it if some spots don’t shine up it means you didn’t get ride of the anodizing and it’s time to put more drain cleaner on it.
After polishing I clear coated it all with Glisten PC. 7 years later living outside all the time and it still looks great!

Instant Power 20 oz. Hair and Grease Drain Opener 1971 - The Home Depot
I might try this on a small pioece of extra old trim. I see it's pretty comon. I'm always willing to learn.

Is there also a "bump" below the dent getting into the front fender arch creating a flare?????
I had to go into the garage and look at mine to make sure I wasn't seeing things.
AM I??
Maybe the grille shell is also worked to match?
Nice looking truck

The hood and fenders are fiberglass from Autofab. The hood is a drop center hood where the factory hood bumps up in the middle this one drops down. The fenders have enlarged wheels openings and the factory racetrack trim has been reworked to fit. That is why there is only an inch or so between the trim and the wheel opening on the front but the full 4” distance on the rear. The front grille is a factory 73 one with custom aluminum grille inserts to fit the 4 headlight conversion.
