Where to buy?
OEM as in the normal one that came in our trucks, just get the newerish version that is fat and leather wrapped. That will leave you with sort of the same look, but a way better hand feeling when driving. Yes the Sport one is OEM, but tend to be rare and that is why they can be pricey.

???
But how will I be sure to not have the same 'mismatched spline' problem I have with the 1997 Ford Ranger one I got?

Well if you follow the guidance in the project bronco web page link I posted and get one from a 1986 Ford Econoline 150 van. You should be fine, if you do get one that has the same splines and or has the flat spot you can use a Dremel and grind it out of there.
Once again I am 99% sure that the little Ford Ranger steering shaft splines are WAY different. Obviously since the steering wheel you got will not work on our trucks.

If you look for ebay sport wheel make sure it is not from a car with the horn button in the turn signal. Looks the same but no horn contacts. You cannot use a sport wheel with factory cruise. I like the looks of a sport wheel and have one but replaced. Long trips and thinner metal spokes can get very tiring without cruise. Factory regular issue wheel from 78 up is perfectly ergonomic for my use. Just my opinion.
