V10 faster then 6.0 PSD?

I maybe tresspassing here but I wanted to get some feed back from those who have PSD's. There is currently a thread in the V10 forum that is discussing this matter of whether a V10 is quicker then the 6.0 PSD? What are your thoughts? Have you ridden in a V10 or raced one? looking for some first hand knowledge. Thanks

I have a good freind with an 02 v10 sd longbed, crew cab 4x4...with an auto.
my 6 litre 4x4 sb, sc is ALOT quicker. the v10 gets off the line about 1 second faster, but once i get boost, i pass him like he let off...

thats my experience with it... he also has an intake, headers, and full exhaust.

ohh, wouldnt be fair not to mention...he has ~10" of lift, and 40" tires...i am certain that makes a difference! (and only 4:10 gears)

but, he gets 9mpg average, and after the oct flash, i am getting 16.6mpg over 2 tank fulls thus far...

I have a F550 with a V10 at work and putting around without a load it's quicker then my excursion. I haven't put it up against my excursion with a horse trailer yet....more to follow when I do!

I got a F-550 6.0 and a 350 v10 the v10 is faster then my 6.0 but if we are doing like 45 my 6.0 will eat the 10 up
(both with 4.10 and Detrot Lockers and sticks)

6.0L is faster my cousin bought my old truck which has a V10. He got me out of the hole for the first 30 feet then went by him like he was shut off.

Yep, the gassers are faster off the line, but the 6.0 PSD will quickly pass it. Same for most of the other 3/4 ton pickups.

Been there, done that.

buddy has a reg cab v-10 stick with 430 gears. He got me for about 20, ( only because i let it boost up a little too much and got a little tire spin) then i walked by him like he was standing still.

If you talking about speed then the V-10 would win, if you talking towing and payload capacity the psd hands down would win, The PSD's are tuned from the factory well below what they are capable of the torque and horsepower, ford wants them to be fuel effecient my opion dont buy a truck if want fuel economy....but the esayest way to improve power on these is a chip you can get 100's of more horses and torque, also you can hook up propane, but of course you will be getting like 5 miles to the gallon..... Nothing beats a PSD, and seeing one of these things spin the tires and the sound is unreal, exspecally when its hooked up to a 10,000lb trailer, these PSDS can still spin the tires

A big factor to consider in the V-10 vs. 6.0 PSD is ALTITUDE. The PSD is of course turbocharged which totally eliminates all effects of high altitude up to about 10,000 ft. The turmocharger will maintain the same internal intake manifold pressure wheather the truck is at sea level or 10,000 ft up in the mountains. Whereas the gasoline engine is naturally aspirated and will run it's best at sea level, but looses 3% of it's horsepower for each 1,000 feet of altitude. (By the way this is also true of the furnace and hot water heater in your house. They both de-rate at 3% per 1000 feet of altitude.) So the PSD will have a more noticeable advantage at higher altitudes, and the V-10 will be at it's best only at sea level. The manufacturers always rate their engines at sea level. Turbocharged engines maintain sea level horsepower up to 10,000 feet. (Also a reason a lot of airplanes and helicopters are turbocharged!)

I own both a V10 and PSD 6.0 and the 6.0 will blow away the V10. The 6.0 has so much power and accelerates excellent.

I have owned both, if you power-break the 6.0, it is tuff to launch off the line without lighting the tires, if you modulate the throttle, it will still leave a 10 in the dust. If you just launch the too from a stop/roll when ya get boost it is embarrassing for the V-10. Moreover, do not think for a minute the 10 is slow it is not. 6.0 absolutely rocks.

The word must have gotten around to the V10s owners that they don't stand a chance because every time I try to get one to come out and play they aren't up for it.
