TFL - 2023 Super Duty

TFL put out a video going over the new 2023 Super Duty with a FORD engineer. No pricing or towing numbers. But a good view of the new trucks with good detail.

couple things i noticed. he mentions new axle. wonder if the dana 275 didnt work out like they thought it would and its been scraped already ? he also says they were aware of the difficulty attaching chain hooks to the receiver so the opening was redesigned. maybe they do read the forums

I rarely watch youtube vids and for some reason TFL vids are the worst. Maybe its his accent...is he actually knowledgeable?

BTRV did one on the F-450 and shows the interior with some detail where TFL pretty much skipped right over it. I really like the King Ranch, the dash looks great. Ford moved drive mode to the 2h/4h from the gear shift from what I saw. Isn't it in the end of the shifter for the 10 speed now?

This other video by them covers a few interior details in the second half. Also a little XL trim info.

I saw this:

New for 2023 is the XL Off-Road Package for the F-250 and F-350 that provides 33-inch knobby tires, axle vent tubes, skid plates, a raised air dam, and an digital locking rear differential. Lastly, the Tremor Off-Road Package has bespoke suspension tuning (with a lifted entrance finish), a Dana entrance axle with an LSD and vent tubes, 18-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch Goodyear tires, and selectable driving modes.
Here: Ford Super Duty Reveal

I haven't seen anything else about the axle. The article mentioned a few new things I hadn't heard yet, like the 6.8 supposedly replaced the 6.2 because of added Low end torque to make starting up hills and merging onto the highway easier. It also mentioned seven new grills because Ford wanted to make each trim distinctive.

I just saw another one he posted and the XL guys should be pretty pumped. XL now comes with 8 inch screen across the board, 6.8 gas standard, and STX comes with fogs and LED headlights. Nice upgrades. I chose a lariat for my 22, but had an XL f150 stx that I just traded and I would absolutely look at a STX and throw a leather kit in it.
Nicely done ford.

that ford guy gave me the impression he was just some kind of spokesman. when pressed about the axle he seemed to stumble a bit. but he did say the front is a torsen and has been even on the 22 models according to him. i freeze framed a video and the rear looks to still be the m275 if you zoom in

You are right, the guy referred to the front as “front locking differential” when it is a mechanical limited slip, someone familiar with 4x4 trucks would usually make a distinction between the two, even if the LSD is gear driven, you can’t switch it on and lock the diff.

that being said, I don’t recall if the 22 tremor uses a Torsen LSD, the raptor started using Torsen a year or two ago, but I don’t recall if anyone confirmed it is used in the super duty.

He mentioned he worked on the side badges/vents, so he is an engineer of some kind. Maybe he had a minor in marketing when he was in school so he was the guy they sent out. Seemed to be well versed in corporatespeak.
