5th wheel pin weight capacity?

5th wheel pin weight capacity?
I have no doubt this has been asked plenty...
so here goes.
I have always towed bumper pulls. I have upgraded now to a 2018 F250 limited. So I'm trying to figure out my max allowed pin weight on it. It has the factory pucks. The figures are as follows:
max cargo capacity says 2,053
rear gawr listed on the door is 6,340
had it weighed on a cat scale showed 3,760 on the drive axel
It was weighed fully loaded with a full tank of the finest diesel.
So would I subtract the actual weight from the rear gawr?
So would 2,580 be the total pin weight plus any hitch weight?
Is that correct? Thanks for any insight.

I'm a little surprised at your rear axle actual weight of 3,760. I had my 2022 F250 Platinum weighed on a CAT scale and the rear axle weighed in at 3,260, 500 lbs less. This was with a full tank, short box, 4X4, diesel, and roll-up bed cover. But no hitch.
Makes me wonder if either CAT scale was out of calibration, unless that difference can be accounted for.

I had my bed loaded with my supplies. I'm an adjuster so I had two ladders and other misc stuff. And I carry alot of crap for work!
I suppose on hindsight I should have taken out since of that stuff as it won't be in there while towing.... it would be cargo weight in the 5th wheel at that point.

Do this....
Get the truck only ready in tow mode - load mom, kids, dogs, fuel, etc. - loose all the "crap" you wouldn't normally carry.

- Weigh the truck (front and rear axels)
- Hitch up the camper and go get weighed again.
- Now you can see what your pin weight is and determine if you are comfortable with the weights.
