Truck Topper Leer vs ARE
I want to order a truck cap for my 2019 F-150.The models that I am interested in are the ARE MX or the Leer 180XR. Based upon the reviews/comparisons that I have seen online, I am leaning towards the Leer 180XR. The fit and finish of the Leer appears to be a little better and the ARE appears to be more prone to leaks. What would you get and why?

We've had several. In the ones we looked at, the Leer matched up with the side panels on the truck better, and looked more "OEM" for lack of a better term. However, all the ones we got were also mated with a lumber rack (Rack-It) that ran outboard. The wider flair at the bottom of the Leer made it impossible to R&R the topper without also removing the rack. The ARE were more narrow at the bottom, and we could unbolt the topper without having to mess with the rack.

Thanks for the help. It is appreciated.
The primary purpose for the topper is for camping. I will sleep in the topper on solo trips. For other trips, I have a canvas wall tent. In both instances the topper will be used to keep hunting/fishing gear dry and secure. Additionally, at some point I will need roof racks to carry a canoe.

Leer vs ARE
Howdy, I bought a Leer 100XL in 2021 for my 2020 F150 XLT s crew. My research lead me there. It took 2 months to come in. It looks good and functions perfectly. I got the electric lock and auto light switch. I’m glad I did. Your installers attention to detail is important. I had to return to have it moved back so the back glass closed flush. I am happy with it. Good luck!
