56 F100 Inherited, suggestion please

I inherited my dads F100 that he fully restored. I am proud to have it. I want to make sure when I am driving it I don't over rev it or do other things wrong. According to what he has written in the service manual it is a 223 6cyl with a 4 speed 3.92 gear ratio. I want to know what speed or RPM is best to drive on the freeway. My son and I want to do a (partial) Route 66 trip in honor of my dad.
Additionally any other advice you have for me will be gratefully received.
I am in Southern California and want to join a F100 club, if there are any.
I put pictures here, how do I make them smaller?

Hello Steve and Welcome. I have no first hand experience with the 223. I do with it's predecessor, a 215 in a 53. I would say 60 mph is on the top end of your range.
You will find most of the folks here "seasoned" and NORTH of say 45-50 years of age. So a Larger picture is actually better!!!

Welcome! Fine looking truck and better history.

Just start driving the truck and remember that these were not speed vehicles. Listen to the truck and you'll hear when it is happy and when it isn't.

Enjoy the journey.

I inherited my dad's truck too, and it has a similar drivetrain. I've taken it on four long road trips. I'd say the sweet spot for highway cruising is in 54-56 mph range. I generally go a bit faster, in the 57-62 mph range--especially on the interstate--but the truck feels as though it's being pushed some at those speeds. Top speed (depending a little on the day) seems to be in the low 70's mph.

Your truck looks great and will be noticed wherever you go. I've had some issues taking an old truck on a long trips, but there have always been helpful strangers along the way willing to lend a helping hand. My experience is you are never alone driving an old truck. Enjoy the ride!

Nice truck Steve. Rather than worry about how to drive the truck with the stock gear ratios, you might want to consider replacing the rear end with a Ford 9 inch which will give you many gear options. Trying to drive in SoCal under 60 MPH will be a challenge. Not sure about what part of SoCal you are located (picture looks like Santee) but Pickups Limited of Southern California has chapters in San Diego and Orange County, both have websites.
