Here’s the best link I have found so far…
https://www.automasterx.com/tail-lig...ram-ford-f150/
Explains older gen and newer gen, plus a YouTube video.
Let me know if you have advice for install.

So I have a plain F150 XL, and I have a simple six pin connector at the tail lights with only five wires. I am having a hell of a time finding out what color wires go to each of the functions. Recently moved and I can’t for the life of me find my multimeter or my simple open circuit light tester. Can anyone help me out?
There’s white with green, blue with purple, Gerry with brown, green with brown, and black with yellow. Those are from driver side…will need the passenger side turn too. Cheers

Ok, so I went to Harbor Freight and bought a cheap light bulb tester and here is what I found:
Black with yellow is the ground
Grey with orange is the left turn signal
Blue with purple is the running lights
White with green is the brake light
Green with brown in the reverse lights
My truck is the XL with normal bulbs and a six pin connector for the tail lights. There's one pin open.
Now my wiring skills are super basic so my question for today is: how do I wire the led light strip since it's a standard 4 pin trailer light connector? I have to hard wire it in to the tail lights or the computer will think I have a trailer hooked up and I'll get all sorts of warning messages. The yellow wire is labeled Left turn/Brake...but how do I connect that to two wires in the tail lights, since the tail lights have separate wires for turn and brake? And then I will have to do the same for the right turn signal ...

So the light strip I have actually has five wires because it includes reverse including the four one would expect. I have checked four times and there are separate wires for turn signal, reverse, and brake at the six pin connection in the tail light...which makes sense since there are three bulbs, one for turn, one for brake, and one for reverse. So that is why I am stumped as to how to hard wire it in to the tail light.... Any help would be appreciated.
