5/8” Sheet Metal Plug

I wasn’t able to find a plug made specifically for the square hole in the door or the hole on the top of the fender, but I did find these FOMOCO plug that fit 5/8” holes perfectly. Available all day long via eBay or in the doors of first gen Fusions (all in great condition) at the PNP.

PN: W651011-S

Hope this helps. I’m always looking for improving upon what I have and the little stuff makes all the difference.

Hi Crazy,
Good attention to detail..!!
I see your inner fenders are black, are they aftermarket....?
Are they any good...?
I need fenders and inner fenders. I got OEM salvage fenders, but have not located inner fenders (that I like)
I have a 1975 F250 Highboy.
Thanks,
Jimmy

That's what the factory used as well. there was no special plug for the square hole.

Original inner fenders were always zinc coated . but I've never found anyone who can put an original looking finish on them. so it's pretty much whatever color paint you prefer, I used Hammerite silver and it has a little texture and similar color to the zinc.

look out west nice inner fenders are not hard to find. but even then the zinc will be shot usually. 2wd ones will work on a 4x4.

these are oem inners. Had them lightly soda blasted to remove old flakey/peeling paint… then simply had the body shop prime/paint them. The left, my knowledge, is original while the right I changed due to battery acid corrosion. They actually have some dents and other signs of their age but overall in great shape.

yup. 2wd body’s always seem to be in better shape. In fact I saw a 2wd f250 just yesterday at the PNP with decent looking inners.

I figured they used a plug like this. DC listed one for the slightly larger square hole that’s below the striker. Up until this I couldn’t find one of the right size.

It would be nice if Ford made a ‘hardware’ catalog available as I always find little bits and pieces harder to find than the major components.

also… if you do end up going aftermarket for your inners, I suggest checking out Dynacorn. 3088A & 3088B. I used them for a replacement bedside and they were top notch. IMO probably the best aftermarket supplier.
