Shocks

I put new passenger's side shock absorbers on and cleaned up my caliper slides and greased them. Also, here's a picture of the brake shield I fabricated three years ago. Driver's side shocks will be next week maybe.

Thanks. At the time, I couldn't find new ones in stock anywhere and wasn't sure if different years were interchangeable.

I hear you man. I'm hoping that by watching my braking on hills, and taking some extra time to maintain the calipers, that I can keep the heat down and make the top hats last. Also, I don't plan to off road this truck other than for work purposes. We'll see how it goes. I have a Jeep with 297,000 miles on it. A few years ago, the right front caliper caught fire because it was dragging. But, I had never removed and cleaned and maintained the brake components.

I've had my top hats do some serious pulling and some jerking when pulling 40+ year old holly and boxwoods. They held up great.

I had a caliper slightly stick, and before I noticed it, the heat had deformed the red ****. It still works, but I don't like the way it looks.

7.3 IDI stuff -- disassembled short block, magged a crank, cleaned pistons. Hope to reassemble short block this weekend. Will be a turbo build for my crew cab 4x4 dually, hoping for 250/550 at the wheels.

Did the dash repair from Jeff's Bronco Graveyard. After reading posts about it, took the trim off and sure enough it was broke. Not bad except the part where I have a Coverlay dash cover in place and couldn't get to the top cowl screws. Ended up drilling the bottom hole and using a 1/4" truss head machine screw and a washer and double nuts on back side. For the top the 3/8" bolt I used to align, left in place and just put a nut and washer on through the glove box like the other screw.

Replaced my light lenses on the front of the truck:

The originals weren't terrible, but the headlight lenses were a bit cloudy and had some water spots in them, so I opted to replace the group as a set. Not the greatest quality set. Fitment was definitely a 'suggestion' but overall turned out OK. One of the studs for the original turn signal light housing just spun in the housing so I couldn't get the nut off of it to be able to put in the new housing. Nut was seized tight. Handling that took most of the day. Otherwise, would have been an easy swap overall. Not sure on how much life I'll get out of these but for now I can see at night.

Installed a new tailgate panel from Built not Bought Industries. Good fit and updates the tailgate. I like it. Reflection is of my wood fence. Never saw a reflection in the old one.
