Adam, we saw this today in our small town and thought you would appreciate seeing a picture.

I'm not sure what year your Monte Carlo is because I have slept and done a brain dump since you told us a while back.

Perfect donor, don't know what trans it has yet but looks to be what I was looking for a 700r4 and has a 350 four barrel that's going to get some goodies in the near future, also bottom engine pics are from the Chevy c20.

Ask and you shall receive.

Rust free minus, the front blue fender and a small portion of the rear wheel well,
OEM fuel tank is rust free and even found the build sheet on it. The undercarriage is clean with zero rust. Already rebuild brakes all new components, Rotors, calipers, brakes pads, drums, shoes, wheel cylinders, brake booster etc.

Are parts easy to get for the Monte? Driveline should be cake but the dash etc. I'd do something fun with the interior, OEM might be $$.

Before I met him a coworker of mine had a 71 Monte with 400 and 4 speed. Baby came along and he had to sell the car to get a 4 door. He was still chippy about it 10 years later.

Yes there's a company dedicated to these era cars.
you can literally build one from scratch from what I saw from their catalog.

I hope a company like that pops up for our trucks and offers a tube frame replacement for our frame rails.

Finally got around to doing an oil change, fuel filter change, installing a spare tire hoist, new spare tire removal kit (I decided to keep the factory lug wrench as the Dirman one look to cheap) and borrowed the spare from my X.

Oil is 15w40 T4 rotella, oil filter is STP conventional and fuel filter is a Baldwin all had 3. Starting fresh with 5k oil changes 15k fuel filter changes, old filter was inside truck so didn't cost a dime.

Did you pour the oil directly from the 5 gal pail into the engine though?

Yes sir, easy when you punch a hole on the opposite side of the bucket spout, doesn't make a mess of things.

Us john henrys are using steel 55 gallon drums, I pour mine into crankcase without a funnel.

Seriously though, I do like the ability to put each item in its place when the job is done. Makes cleanup easier since I know when that pesky 10mm is missing and I need to do a floor search.

Over the years I've lost countless sockets on this set specifically 10mm, 8mm, 5/16, 13mm, 1/2 those tend to fall into the abyss never to be found.

Something in the works for next year for this truck, nothing fancy just a stock rebuild, I know the block looks like **** but giving it a new life is what's all about.
