The soft tops look like crap when they're new and get worse with age.

If you get diamond back, you can mount stuff on top. I love em. 4 bolts takes it on and off. Handy if you have a truck camper.

This is exactly how I would like my 2022 to look.

Can you share which Leer topper and options you ordered?

I have a dog, and I don't want my bald head to be poked by fiberglass.

I got the 100XL with the Thule roof racks, electronic lock (do not skip this option. It’s worth every penny), overhead light, and carpeted roof liner.

We boondock camp often with our 34' trailer and wouldn't dare be without our cap. The amount of stuff we pack in there stays secure and dry. Ice chests, generator, folding tables, chairs, Blackstone griddle, toolbox, etcetera, etcetera. We also have a Bedrug to keep things from sliding around. The cap is an ARE Z Series. The fit is great and the color match is perfect.

Sharp looking truck. I go back and forth, but in the end I need to determine how I can carry the kayaks with a cap vs. my Kayak (ladder) rack.

My wife has used this 9" paint roller on a 5' pole for 20 some years. She found it in the garage and I never got it back. It's length is perfect as it is always within reach when laying in the bed. The roller makes a nice hook for grabbing on the red bins and it will pull a surprising amount of weight. Simple and cheap.

@adllewis42 So, been looking at the RSI's for a while. No distributor up here in Alaska, so they say. Your previous experience with RSI has been good I take it? Any additional comments? Thanks

Unfortunately, I don't actually have any personal experience with RSI. I've only seen their setups on trucks of other people. That being said, I didn't really have any issues with the Snugtop other than some slight water intrusion. That being said though, it seems like the RSI cap is built a little better (stainless steel instead of fiberglass), seals better around the windows/windoors, and has a lot of modular accessories. Once you kit out a Snugtop, the price difference is pretty small.

Have had Leer, SnugTop and a couple others over the years. None really noteworthy, all had some sort of issue that should have been sorted out by now after decades of supposed 'development'. My Reading & Knapheide commercial utility bed bodies have been more impressive to me despite some design flaws in them also. Really like the idea of SS versus fiberglass so the RSI peaks my interest.

ARE Z series here as well, and if they want to get inside bad enough, they will, no matter what brand you buy.

I’m leaning towards no cap and keep using my kayak rack. i’m not a fan of the solutions i see on the caps for hauling kayaks.

thanks for the input.

So, instead of popping the liftgate they broke the most expensive window to replace?
