Wire connector help F53 Motorhome Chassis 1991
I have a 1991 Fleetwood Bounder 34J which is on the F53 motorhome chassis with the Ford 460. I was moving it around my parking lot earlier and it started to die each time I put it in gear. Ran fine in neutral/park but move to drive or reverse and it died. Then it stopped altogether and would not start. After a day of spit balling and changing out the fuel pump still had the issue. Took a look underneath the driver's side and saw a couple of wires wrapped in the steering column/knuckle. Got them worked back out and the RV started up. Thought it was success. But then it died when putting in gear again. I have found some wires "pulled out" or shorting in a wire connector near the base of the steering column. I have no idea what the connector is - but I am hoping someone can help me. I am not an electrician or mechanic but have a friend that can help if we can find out what this connector is. I would be grateful for any help! Thank you. Sean

If its like the trucks, that harness likely contains the fuel pump relay and ECM relay power from ignition. A good place to look. I have personally seen a truck where the main relay power wire corroded internally. I recommend getting a wiring diagram packet from ebay or a Haynes manual at the very least and go to town with a VOM. Find out where the power is getting lost. Easier than you think.

Thank you again for the diagram. I tried to take some better pictures. There is a big wire loom about 1 1/2 inches thick that runs back from this area. That loom has four smaller branches and this is one of those branches. It looks like a prior owner has already made some adjustments here with some wires coming out of the loom. I believe this connector is in the diagram on the top. I am curious if this is a straight through connector so I could technically bypass it with jumper wires?
Thanks for your help it is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!!! So there was a repair done it apparatus to the red green wire. The connection inside was open off/on. I cut the wire on both sides of the connector and jumped across! Now it is working. I feel I should probably fix it right at some point. Thank you for this it was a big help!!!!!
