Factory Reese 5th wheel hitch

I have a f350 on order and have been looking at the B&W hitch. I ran across a local guy that has the factory hitch for sale. The used hitch is half the price of the B&W and I like the idea of saving the money but not if the B&W is that much better, not like I can't afford it or anything. I had a reese in my old truck and liked it just fine. Is it worth spending the money on the B&W? How much should I be paying for the used hitch, its a little rusty and the stickers a a bit beat up, but looks fully functional.

Thanks
Mike

Are you talking about the factory 5th wheel prep package that goes under the bed? Or the actual hitch that attaches to the trailer?

The reese hitch that locks into the pucks on the prep package. I ordered my truck with the prep kit, but opted out of ordering the actual hitch.

Joining in as I’m interested to hear the feedback you’ll get.

I personally have been on the lookout for the B&W, as I personally think there camlocks into the puck slots are better (appear to be on the outside of the hitch frame, vs the Reese seems to be tucked inside).

mother thing that may matter to you is rating. I think the Reese is typically 18k lb rated, and the B&W is 20k or has a 25k option.

I had the Reese in my 13 and opted to go with the B&W on my 21... hands down a much better hitch... now the Reese did just fine... but after using the B&W... its just a big upgrade...

Either would work well for me capacity wise, I'm 16k on the high side loaded, but the Ford (reese) hitch is good to 27.5k or 25k depending on where you look. if I end up with the B&W I will opt for the 25k, cause I'm all about the overkill, lol.

Thanks, thats what I was looking for. I like to save a few bucks when I can but I'm not about to let a few hundred dollars separate me from getting the best set up.

I am running the ford reese 19k hitch p/n LC3Z-19D520-A with my wife's employee discount I couldn't get anything else near the same price new. Realy happy with it so far, also installed the fith wheel prep package too since the truck didn't come with it.

hope this helps

Of you are not in a hurry you can find the B&W hitch used on Craigslist or other on line adds.
last Ford puck one I got was $250 for the 20,000lbd model.

If the guy will take $400 for his used hitch go for it. New they can be had for just over $800.

Otherwise get the B&W.
