New F-250 Order Mistake

New F-250 Order Mistake
Ordered a new F-250 Jan. 4 Super Cab short box Lariat. Dealer had the SN a couple weeks later. Noticed on this website order tracking link so typed in the SN and the new truck order showed up. I didn't notice navigation listed so called the dealer. He confirmed it's there and printed out the order for me which did show it. Yesterday I decided to look at the site again to see if the build date showed up. Looked at the picture of the truck and rotated it to see all sides. When I looked at the side view it looked like a long box instead of short. Only the wheel base is shown so checked that out and sure enough it's a long box. Went to the dealer and he checked and he had mistakenly ordered a long box. Truck is schooled to be built week of 2/22. He just phoned to confirm that Ford will be able to change from a long to short box. Very grateful dealer that I caught it. Sure would have been a bummer to finally have it come in and discover a long box!

It is good it was detected and corrected.
For my special order (currently in-production) the dealership was provided a text file that matched my configuration selections on the Ford web page.
The dealership provided a printout for my signature approval from a Ford web page, identified as Preview Order.
The listing in that printout was checked, line by line, to ensure the configuration was correct.
The listing does not identify the bed length, just the wheelbase (160) and the crew cab configuration. The Crew Cab with the 6-3/4' box is 159.8" and the 8' box is 176.0" wheelbase, so 160 was good for my config.

Mine did the opposite.. ordered a short bed instead of long bed. I noticed it when the window sticker came up.. They told me I would have to order another..which I did.. They said they could not change or expedite another truck, had to reorder.. This is one of the top few dealers in the state.. Oh, I work at a sister store also, lol. Kevin

I can't really believe it either. I had special ordered a truck Nov 2019. Finally got the VIN and window sticker in March. Everything was as ordered except dealer screwed up and ordered wrong color. A bunch of calls later, dealer said Ford couldn't change the order once the VIN is released. Told them to keep it and I went elsewhere.

From Blue Oval forum:
Dealers can change vehicle specifications for a scheduled vehicle up until the vehicle is “locked in” for production or about two weeks prior to the scheduled build date. Specifications for certain vehicle lines (EcoSport, Focus RS, etc.) cannot be changed once scheduled.
§ Dealers are limited to making 6 changes to scheduled orders.
§ Dealers cannot change Order Type, Body Code, Order Code (Package/Trim Level)
I was able to add the ultimate package to my Lariat a couple weeks after getting my VIN.

Don't sign anything at the dealer unless the truck comes in and it's exactly as you ordered it. If anything is wrong, just walk away and order another (or keep the truck if you can live with the changes and the dealer makes you whole however you see fair).
I ordered my truck with the manual 4x4, and it came in with ESOF.

Just checked the Ford order tracking site and where the truck side view showed a long bed two days ago, today it shows a short bed. So, the change is definitely made. Local dealer and great guy so I didn't doubt him but wasn't sure it would show up on the tracking site so soon. Change was made yesterday.
