Yay! Success.
Pretty sure they had to make that bracket at least semi adjustable to different size units, because even back then there were two distinct sizes of the old 1G alternator. The large-case model was quite a bit larger than the small-case model.
I was able to install a 105amp large-case model on my 400 without having to do anything at all. Even with my 302, the large-case 70a model bolted right on. I did make the decision to elongate the already slotted hole though, rather than drive over to the local parts store for a shorter belt!
But hey, that's what snap decisions are made for!
Let us know how it charges things. You should see a nice steady 14-15 volts even when at idle and some of the accessories running.

14.7 volts at idle with nothing on.
14.5 volts at idle with everything I've got. Headlights heater cab radio even the glove box light.
