So today I managed to start working on some rust under the body. There is alot of "flake" and I just worked it off with a wire brush or with my drill and brush attachment. Today I did the oil pan, front axle, and rear wheel wells. Also today I did a coolant flush which was....very messy
Neglected under belly
As I'm uploading this photo of the painted oil pan I'm realizing I should have gotten an in-between photo of what it looked like all sanded down. I guess you'll just have to trust me that I sanded it haha.
Rock chipped wheel well
A shot of the wheel well sanded down and a can of the stuff I like to use for rust conversion. It works really well.
Painted wheel well
Shot of the front axle. Again I forgot to get a before and in-between shot. But hey....flat black looks good.

The fuel filler problem is a design flaw. Thank you Ford engineers! I saw a fix to this somewhere and I had already swapped out new fuel filler tubes and it still does it sometimes. My truck is a 96 F-350 w/460. BTW very nice truck!

Attacked more rust today.....got the entire passenger side of the frame done. Whew.
Before sanding....
After sanding
Coat of rust conversion / corrosion resistant spray
Passenger side wheel well before sanding
After sanding
Coat of spray
So yeah...luckily it's mostly surface rust. It disappears with a brush and drill. The previous owner went to the trouble of replacing all the hardware and brake lines etc so that's nice. I'm going to swap out all the exhaust and suspension eventually so I'm not going to attack any of that rust.
I did do the inside of the frame as well but ran out of paint so I'll get that tomorrow.

Well I've been doing alot and haven't taken the time to post what's being done. I recently got very lucky and found a bunch of OBS stuff on Craigslist for $100. The haul included a near perfect condition fuel rail with all 8 functioning bosch injectors, factory aluminum wheel well trim, a set of tail lights, a tow package (looks homemade and I already had one), a throttle bottle, a working 2g alternator with factory harness, some snow chains, and a cold air intake. The only stuff I'm keeping is the fuel rail, injectors, taillights, and trim pieces. I'll post a photo of my fuel that's on the truck now first. As you can see it's rusted to crap. Also recently upgraded the truck to a 3g 140amp alternator, new battery, and new tires.
As you can see my fuel rail is so rusted I'm worried a pin hole leak will appear eventually.
New fuel rail in near perfect condition. Almost no rust. Also all 8 bosch injectors. Pretty nice find. The guy said he pulled this off a 460 but I'm not 100% sure. It would seem like it based on the injectors and all. But it just seems smaller than what's in the truck. I still need to take a closer look.
Factory trim pieces painted satin black. Works for me as it works with the color scheme of the truck. Pretty nice find.
New 140amp 3g alternator. I put in a 175amp in line fuse as well. I'm getting better gas mileage with this thing. It's very nice.
Shot of the new tires as well as the wheel well trim installed.
And here she is in all her glory. Next thing I need to do is replace that fuel rail and do the exhaust.
