They will be going that way soon. They are stripped and only stay on in that orientation. I have a sleeve that can fix it, just have to get them on. Putting the sleeve on will push the handle out about 3/4 of an inch so when I do the custom panels the orientation will be addressed.

Staying with this idea…repaired my original wheel but after a year or so of muscling that thing around the cracks have reformed and the wheel is no longer sturdy and safe to drive. I am torn on getting an aftermarket OEM 17” wheel or going with just an aftermarket 15” wheel that works with my interior scheme. Thoughts, ideas, and/or pics of your steering wheel set up?

If you get the reproduction one, that comes only in black(I think) you can paint it to match, or have it professionally done. Aren’t there issues of the stock horns not always functioning when using aftermarket steering wheels?

A pic of my 13.75" Grant wheel, shows what a small wheel might look like. P.O.s choice, but I liked and kept it when I re-did the interior. Turns easy with the PS.

Love going smaller but I have manual steering. I think 15” would be it. IBuzzard are you saying that even going with an OEM repo there are horn issues?

No, I believe there are problems using some aftermarket ones. Perhaps, though, I am confusing this with when people are changing to tilt steering columns, or a combination of both. Folks who’ve done these mods will likely chime in.

I do like to keep things mostly stock, part of my strategy as a barely passable mechanic that keeps things simple, and my truck on the road. And is cheaper, usually.

I added the iDidIt tilting column. The one I bought was made to work with an OEM steering wheel, The turn signals work as does the horn.
I use a replacement 17" steering wheel that is thinner than the original steering wheel but I have pwr steering so it all works well for me.

Mine was cracked way as typical. Rather than fill I got a new Ford black wheel off eBay in 2008 and painted it.

My aftermarket wheel horn worked at first, but the solder joint on the contact ring in the wheel needs to be redone. It'll be an easy fix when I get to it. Turn signals were also finicky to get set for the cancel pin on the wheel to work, but they do work,

That is probably what I was remembering as being a problem when fitting some aftermarket steering wheels, not the horn.
