Just mentally spitballing a bit; did you ever explore the idea of an electric charger for the low end until the larger turbocharger spins up?

Been done before but placement could be improved. I'd imagine it could be more reliable than the turbonator without the piping nightmare of twin turbos.

@PriusLover ,yes I had considered that, compound turbos, turbo feeding a conventional in-the-valley Whipple, etc etc. You'll be amazed the flights of fancy my brain can concoct.

To be honest, my original intent was to get into a T4/SXE setup whilst retaining EBPV/Exhaust Brake functionality. The Turbonator appeared to be the most elegant way to achieve this. Little did I know the trials and tribulations that awaited me.

You’ll be hard pressed to make an electric charger move the volume of air the 7.3 needs.

The belt driven pro chargers are out there and work, but have never been popular. A friend had one on his 7.3 for awhile and didn’t like it.

Glad bench testing went well!!

We cranked up a 7.3 with no exhaust manifolds to move it out/in the shop and it sounded AWESOME, albeit obnoxious. Made me wonder if we could replace the turbo with a supercharger and run short, open headers like a funny car. I don’t even care if it works good, I just wanna hear that sound at full tilt, pushing high boost pressure!!!

You should mount Top Fuel dragster headers.

YES! It was pretty awesome. I’ve heard open exhaust manifolds before, but never individual exhaust ports. It sounded sweet just revving to 2k rpm moving up the driveway a few feet then backing into garage.

No progress on this front because I threw my back out Tuesday and I'm still recovering.

Not sure why you hurt your back. The guy in the photo holding your new wheel isn't straining that much...

Been there with back issues. Rest up and take meds with multiple trips to chiropractor is about all you can do for a bit

I threw my back out bending over to pick up a piece of tissue as I got out of bed. 😵

Ha! Slacker.

I threw mine out while I was asleep in bed.
Not fun times. You'll get better eventually. Just takes time. And meds...

Forgot The Neck can't publically post where he threw his back out to... too many back collectors circling around his house already... looking to collect back taxes, back debts, etc.
