if you have any local spring shops try there. I have one about an half hour away they mainly do semis but they make u bolts to size and are the best price I have found. Also the quality seams better and the nuts are almost twice a thick, only down fall is the bolts and nuts are raw steel.

Turns out Advance has them. Full set for $25. Little long but they can be trimmed. Picking them up on my way home.

It started sleeting here so progress will be kinda slow today as well.

Took the rearend apart for cleaning, new bearings and paint. It was leaking pretty badly over the years so I will make sure the mating surfaces are flat and smooth.

Will put all new break parts on as well.

I also made the first break line. I think it turned out pretty well.

And finally, the devil is in the details:

WFE-AB Ford F150 Pickup '75-'79 3.25 9.0 L 31

I somehow deleted the before pic but it was really cruddy and bent up. To get it any more straight, I would have to make a new one.

Stripped and cleaned the axle housing. Man! getting that gasket material off was ridiculous. I had to use a gasket wheel and propane torch and it's still not 100% clean.

Today, I will wipe it down again and prime a couple coats. I will also try to get the third member cleaned up and ready to paint.

Great progress!
Keep up the good work!

Dang, I sure hate the weather messed up your Ford time.
Last weekend was nice around here. Warn and sunny during the day.

Yeah I really need a shop.

I am doing a bunch of small parts in the blast cabinet after work today. Then, I will put a space heater in the little shed behind the house and prime and paint them.

I really want to have the whole rearend including leaf springs back in this weekend but don't know if I will get it done or not.

Carb choices, let me suggest, Holly sniper. I'm not to the point on the truck, But, I installed it on my Torino last year. I'll never look back. Honestly, unless ur truck is going to be 100% ,its so worth it. By the way, you have an excellent starting point.

I thought about it. No more than the truck will be driven, EFI wasn't worth the cost involved. I may change my mind later on and swap. Who knows. But, for now, the Demon carb will do.

Thanks! This build is odd, in that, there was a lot less cosmetic stuff to do than mechanical. Usually, with Chevys, it's the opposite.

These are pretty pitted, but, structually sound. I will give them a couple coats of filler primer then sand and two more coats of regular primer then matte black.

My buddy also bent the lip on one when he was trying to break the drum off. I will have to fix that first.

Last night I finished mounting the arm rest in the seat and using hog rings to reattach the back upholstery. I then refit the base and had to redo two mounting holes in the seat because the adjusters weren't parallel.

I put the seat back in with the new/old steering wheel and got full range of motion and was comfortable with the wheel placement.

I took pics then my phone decided to take a break from life. lol

I will retake pics tonight and post them.

Time to take the base apart and enlarge two of the holes and then blast and paint.

We complete the short block this weekend and move the cab backward to paint under it.

Google putting the phone in an oven. I had an LG 'smart' phone go completely dead, and I put it in the oven and got it to come back on - but it died again before I could get anything out of it...

Mine was only 6 months old. Economy phone and shouldn't have bought it.

I am back on my wife's old iPhone for a few weeks.

We have had some serious health issues in the family and things came to a screetching halt for a couple days and I am still a bit weak. I did, however get the flash rust on the new crank cleaned up, soaked it down and wrapped it in a black trash bag until we plastigage and drop it in for good.

Keep my family in your thoughts please. Rough year so far.
