Chip in tire tread with picture

I was backing up a trailer and must have grabbed a rock on the pavement. The slice looks to go the same depth of the groove or maybe slightly deeper. Is this ok to still run? I drive mostly unloaded but do tow a mini ex and bobcat occasionally. Tires are brand freakin new and I also got them trued but I do want to be safe.

Looks OK to me but if in doubt ask the tire people. Did you buy road hazard with them? I never used to buy road hazard then I ended up paying for 2 or 3 ruined tires so I started buying road hazard, of course that was over 4 years ago and I haven't needed it

You say that they are brand new? What is the marbleing in the second picture below the cut? I have 50,000 miles on my Cooper tires and they look better than your new ones. Just wondering.

Thats tar from my driveway. I had a trailer on the truck and was backing up a pretty steep hill and the tires spun pulling the tar up with it.

I see, If the tires were mine, I would run them and not worry about it at all then.

You're a hard man on a tire. I'd run it and take a peek at it once in a while.

lol!! I bit the bullet and got a new one. Cheap insurance. I would hate to have that thing peel off with a skiddy and trailer behind me.

I hope you kept it as a spare! These 10 ply tires are tough! I doubt you would ever know it happened.

It will be just fine. Mark it and glance at it every so often if it concerns you but I doubt you will see any problems
