For me, yes that was a serious PITA. I am glad I went that extra bit. My clutch parts finally came in on Monday. Today my DC parts finally came in as well. I wasnt even sure if they shipped them yet since I never got an e-mail from them saying they were shipped. Whatever, Im just glad they are here. Hopefully I will have time to get the engine and tranny back in the truck this weekend. Time to start making some progress.

I painted the bottom of the engine the other day. I have to pull the intake and heads but I will do that once its in the truck.
Tried getting engine and trans all in the frame today but fell short. I put the bell housing on the trans first. Had to get new bolts for that. I found the trans bolts later, they were on the bracket mounted to the back of engine for the engine stand.

Once i got the clutch all on, I mounted the transmission to the motor.
Theres that old dog leash again with tranny hanging off it. Thats how I put them together.
Then I ran out of reach and couldnt get it in there. Tomorrow I am going to pull front passenger wheel and come over the side and get it done. I might set the cab back on it as well.
I got the bell housing past the towers, barely. Pulled it back out of there and set it down for the night. I picked up the torque wrenches and left everything else where it was. I was done for the day. There is always tomorrow.

No, this is still the T18 that was swapped in when I got it. It had a homemade bracket on it to carry the shifter. The old bracket is on the workbench. Im going to make another, slightly heavier though. The old one would probably last a while but rather start with a new one.

I will get pictures later. It was pretty simple, just set the bracket on the tail housing center on the rib. Drilled those top two holes then did a side hole. Between the bracket and the housing you will need to make a shim but it was easy with hand tools. But you will need to take the tail housing off to do it.
