Field Service Action - Customer Satisfaction Program - 20N04 - Steering Damper

Just got a FSA notice in Ford Pass about steering linkage damper extended coverage. It doesn't really give me any details though. Anyone else seeing this?

New Field Service Action on Steering Linkage Damper

Ford app just beeped at me saying I had a new field service action on the truck. Steering Linkage Dampner. I guess this would be related to the death wobble so many have ?!!

If it were mine I wouldn't bother. Replace with aftermarket King, Fox, etc, or a dual stabilizer setup.

Ok. Called my service advisor. What it is, Ford is going to extend the warranty on that part for 7 years, 100k miles if your truck experiences death wobble. My service advisor said it’s becoming more and more common and he is seeing a lot more trucks with it. They have an area to test drive trucks to make them actually do it to replicate it. Mine is ok for the moment but on a couple occasions a little bump causes a very minor shake. Lol

I got it too on my 18 on Fordpass. At least they are now acknowledging they have a problem.

My truck’s already had the gen 3 version installed. If it goes south I’m not messing with it again. I’ll seek out one of the aftermarket solutions.

I haven't recieved the FSA yet, but its good that they are escalating their reaction to the issue. My concern would be that by the time death wobble actually happens, what else might be wore out. Seems like they should just change them regardless of whether DW happens or not.

I have the FSA on my truck (I'm guessing all 4x4s do). As Flitastic points out, seems Ford is just extending the warranty on such claims. I agree with JollyR and P-Pop, just install an aftermarket solution and be done with it.

No problem, it looks like you both started the threads within a couple minutes of each other. I noticed some info there that you might have been looking for.

^^^^Ditto on the above, Ford has had PLENTY of years to work this out.
I put a Fox unit on my 19 at 8000 miles, just to be proactive and not have to worry about it.
I run 40 psi in the single stabilizer and 60 in all tires. Works perfectly. They can keep their warranty

What he said... I put a King on my 19 250 at 11,000 miles. Feels like a different truck. Warranty on a POS that they will replace with a new POS is not upping their reaction to the DW.
My truck had mild rattly feeling bump steer from day one. That's gone now. When I removed the stock SS it had 1/2" of free play in the action.. That was what I was feeling all along. Absolute garbage. Just replace with your choice of quality aftermarket.
