For those that did this mod, but went the Racor filter route. Did you use the Racor PS120-02 version? They also have a PS120-01 version. I think the only difference might be port size, but I'm still comparing.....

I went with the -02. I spoke to someone from racorstore.com and he sent me the literature. They are identical except the -01 is 1/2” ports and the -02 is 3/8” ports.

Thanks for the info. Does the Racor come with the plugs for the unused ports, or would I need to purchase separately? Trying to plan out my fittings if I go the Racor route.

They should be in the box, in a bag when you buy it. At least mine was.
I have not fitted the filter yet so can't comment much more

Yes, (2) plugs are included.

You’ll need 3/8” MNPT to 3/8” barb to go to tank and 3/8” MNPT to 5/16” barb to go to pump. (McMaster Carr is a good source)

I like the push-lock fittings (no clamps = cleeeeaaaaner).

Thanks for the info Jason. I have no problems findinging 3/8" x 3/8" MNPT push-lock fitting, but I can't find a standard 5/16" x 3/8" MNPT. I only found this inverted flare which I'm not sure if it is meant to seal on a different end fitting (like the AN)???? https://www.discounthydraulichose.co...IaAi2sEALw_wcB

No problem finding the single fittings in the regular barb style (just looking for single fittings) that fit directly to the Racor without adding additional adaptors (additional leak points).

McMaster has brass 3/8” MNPT x 5/16 barb. Always use fuel injection style hose clamps on regular barb fittings.

Does fitting material really matter here with diesel fuel? Brass vs. Aluminum vs. SS? Or all will do the job just fine?

Material doesn’t matter. I prefer brass fittings. Corrosion resistance and forgiving if disassembly required (SS can gall and strip threads).

In that topic, I recommend paint or powder coat RACOR base. It will oxidize and look like crap after it’s been exposed to salt/etc.

My ocd kicked in. I had originally ordered the Racor, but cancelled the order for now. I go back and forth which setup I want to go with, but now I'm leaning towards Jason's Wix filter and complete setup for the save in cost. I have a lot of things that I need to do to my truck. So saving some money to put towards other things would be nice. Plus less prep work. But then again, I'll probably change my mind 3 different times.....lol

I also had some trouble finding the 30R9 hose (at least it wasn’t available at my normal go to locally owned part store) and ended up getting it at Advance Auto. Part numbers AC503P & AC504P

I know alot of people have had success with the wix but I just could not keep the air bubbles from flowing so I went with the racor setup. If you are on a budget then you could give the wix a try..... but if you can swing it, get the Racor.......i put the racor on both my trucks and very glad I did, but the wix will do the same thing

Ive never had that problem. I’ve installed literally DOZENS of these filters.

30R9 hose and fuel injection hose clamps are important details.

I prefer the simplicity of the WIX. It’s also economical, but it’s cleeeeaaaaan and easy. Most people never need to change the filter.
