Anyone had luck getting the air out of fuel? I had some bubbles on my initial start up and run to the local fuel station. Granted I only have like 7 or 8 gallons in the tank, not sure if that is low enough to cause aeration. I may need to tighten my FI clamps down tighter. I know for a fact the feed line on the tank clicked in. I also used that loctite oil and gas adhesive on my 4 connection points around the wix filter. Truck runs and drives fine and doesn’t seem loud or produce cackling.

anyone have any ideas?

@BradyT88 did you ever resolve this? Mine looks similar after just completing this mod

I had the same issue with the wix filter which is why I installed a Racor. If you have enough room you can try double clamping each side of the filter in opposite directions to see if that helps.

you think that plastic inlet on the wix is the issue? I did use the loctite on that nipple

i think connection at filter inlet. Fuel inj clamps werent fully tight. I was able to turn them a full turn or 2 with my 1/4” ratchet. The inlet side of the filter looked a little wet with diesel leading me to believe my connection issue is there as of now. I did not have time before work to get the truck on the road and confirm but will report back to everyone

What Loctite did you use on a hose nipple?

the one @jstihl recommends above. Not really on the nipple. Sort of away from the opening but still where the hose slides over

I don't think I'd want or need any type of stickum on a replaceable fuel filter, wouldn't think it's necessary.

All this air in the fuel issue is the exact reason that I relocated the fuel pump to the end of the fuel pickup in the fuel tank. Air never gets into the fuel stream if every inch of the supply line is under pressure, and not a partial vacuum like it is with the fuel pump mounted on the frame rail outside of the fuel tank.

Can't argue with the pump in the tank. Surprising with all of the aftermarket performance parts and suppliers and the problems with the factory pickup no one has marketed a drop in electric pump.

Help

Guys, I just can’t get this WIX filter to seal right. It seems like every time I make an adjustment it gets worse. I put a new Piece of 5/16 and put two new clamps on it and it still won’t seal. I’m getting small bubbles and foam at the top. I am starting to think it is the line from the sending unit up to the pump. Has anyone replaced that with just straight rubber line? I know it’s 3/8 coming off the sender but 5/16 going into the fuel pump. Or should I just put a Racor on this?

when my son installed the SUMP on my truck's fuel tank
he junked the existing steel fuel line,
I bought new Fuel Injection fuel hose to replace it,
all the way from the tank to the pump.

we used Fuel Injection hose clamps, they are far superior to the typical Screw/Worm gear clamps, that will NOT seal tight on 3/8" line, the worm gear is too long, it leaks.... ask how we know that one.

the clamps --- Assorted sizes
