I don't know about the others but he will know if they were running when he parked them where they are sitting. Mine started up right away after I got a battery in it and some fresh gas. Tanks had a hole drilled in them. WWhen I go check them out I'll take a socket and bar to see if they are free, they've been sitting awhile now. at least 8 years I think..

Thank you Faulken, I don’t have water right now in the shop, or a garden hose, too cold yet. Be another month or so before I can get the shop water going again.
Spoke to my machinist, he said no problem. Short soak, little bead blasting, and he can get it cleaned up and “Sparkle like new again”. I dropped it off this morning and hopefully I’ll have it back in a day or two. Done.
Here’s a pic for Torqta. New balancer. ATP if I remember correct. I took my silver marker and filled in the timing marks, wiped off the excess. Looks good. The old one had a few cracks, and a little rust here and there.

Hey guys,
I received my lifters yesterday, opened them up this morning, I’m not happy at all with them. They are going back. I’d rather use my old lifters than these.
Not the best pictures, my phone camera doesn’t like to zoom in too close.
The edges beside the rollers were not machined very nicely, at all. Jagged edges, flaking metal... I didn’t measure, but I’d swear on one of them the jagged edges stick out past the lifters diameter. They are also slightly longer overall than the stock lifters. I didn’t measure.
2 of the 16 would not roll smoothly. They would jam up, and had to be backed up to get them to roll.

The little spec below the lifter on the bench is a piece I picked off one of the lifters edges beside the roller.
I’ll have to read up on who makes good lifters. I see Ford performance has a set - PN. M-6500-R302, or comp cam, sealed power, Mahle....
Disappointing.
EDIT. A Melling quality rep saw this thread, and actually got in touch with me. He says they are going to be inspecting the lifters for this. Interesting that this little project thread would filter back to a manufacturer. Good to hear. Thank you for reaching out and letting us know it’s being looked at in the future.
