6.0 Trans cooler install on a 7.3

Checked the tech folder, found what I am thinking is the link I want under "Tech Folder Continued", then "Transmission, Differential, Driveline".
But when clicked on the link it goes to drive.google.com and a black screen that says no preview avail.

I purchased a 6.0 cooler (26row) today to replace my OE 7.3 cooler. I'm just looking for install pics to see how others routed their lines, what fittings did you need/use Etc.
Just seeking this before I tear into everything and have to stop and make a parts run(s). I see RiffRaff has a stainless barbed coupler as a suggested part, guess one may be needed. The cooler I bought is OE Ford and came with one rubber hose already installed on the lower left. I had even thought about bending copper with a tubing bender, and flaring the ends to keep it all hard line and clean if it's feasible. I think some of the well known diesel sites offer a complete fitting and hose kit?

I put a Mishimoto cooler on mine. Fit like a glove and no issues. More rows than the factory big one. Hope it goes well for you and your cooling issues are solved.

The transmission temps really do fine with local driving, and non towing highway driving. I saw higher temps heading back from Arizona a couple years ago (Aug 2017) while only towing my SeaDoo and single PWC trailer. I drove right into a major storm in TX while heading home, and watched my temps nose dive from around 210/215 to maybe 150 within minutes once the air to oil cooler got wet. I felt then I really should have a larger cooler. The OE small cooler was replaced at the same time as the transmission by the dealer May 2016. Since I am returning this year to Arizona, and will be towing my bow rider boat @ roughly 4100 Lbs total package weight. So larger cooler it is.

Does your radiator have the oil to water cooler?

I don't think it does, I've been meaning to look anyway.

OTW will be far more beneficial then a air to water cooler. Especially in reverse.

Mark K has explained this several times over the years.

Swapping to the newer radiator and transmission lines helps my temps come down much quicker.

So I know I'm getting old, just checked tonight while replacing the ESOV cross frame vacuum hose set, I do indeed have a cooler loop in my radiator. I should know this as I replaced this and a lot of other parts late 2016. The possible redundancy could be that I chose the international water pump w/203 thermostat. I don't know how much influence this will have on the transmission fluid cooling since these two systems are not fully independent.

By newer radiator, you are referring to the 6.0 transmission cooler, or an integrated antifreeze radiator with transmission cooler?
I'm sure the 26 row will make a difference, but the two systems may work slightly against each other.

My 99 F250 V10 came with a air to oil transmission cooler, it did not come with a transmission cooler in the radiator.

It's a good thing you have the transmission fluid running through the radiator and transmission cooler. The radiator is what does most of the work. Search for Mark Kovalsky threads and you will find where he explains this, most recently in @mecdac radiator thread for the 7.3 section.

How would they work against each other? One is cooling the ATF, while the other is cooling the ATF. Both are working towards cooling the ATF.

I'm assuming the radiator coolant temp has been increased to some degree by adding the 203 thermostat. Since I'm not measuring temps in the radiator I'm only asuming this is the case. So I'm thinking the heat transfer from ATF to coolant has been reduced or limited.

I have the 203 Thermostat...and I barely hit 150 in the Texas heat. Rarely here in Colorado do I get that high. That is empty, but loaded with kids and their luggage!

The coolant from the engine will enter the radiator about 8°F degrees hotter. But the thermostat will be open less time because of the higher temperature. So the heat load into the radiator is about the same. It is possible that the radiator temp is a degree or two warmer. Will that make a difference? Yes, but not enough that you could tell the difference.
