"Owner of almost too many Fords"? The only time you can have too many Fords is on your deathbed when you smile looking around at the faces of your kin and KNOW they are thinking, "good lord, what are we going to do with all of his stuff?". It's then that you realize that he who dies with the most toys wins. "I won!!!" you think as you close your eyes and head to the afterlife.

Years ago I had a 50 Merc 2-dr that a buddy offered to store for me on his rural property in San Diego county. I took it out to his place and parked it behind an outbuilding and covered it with a tarp. He is not a car guy so he was surprised at how many people came to his door wanting to know if it was for sale. He told me that it was one thing to be able to SEE the car but an all together different thing to know the make and model! Car guys are not to be underestimated!

Done that, only it was just a 3 hour drive. Cab-over with a "complete, ready to go sleeper" $18,000. The reality, a really badly maintained yawner worth around $1,800. Well, ok, $1850 since they did throw in some c clamps and safety wire to hold up the exhaust ... in two places, very thoughtful!.

I've run into this with an eBay ad many years ago. Fortunately, the truck was only about 40 miles away. From the pictures in the ad I could see the truck was a beater parts truck but I was interested in the "new" tires described in the ad. I emailed the seller numerous times asking different questions about the tires to make sure the tires were new, no miles as stated. I won the bid for a little less than a full set of new tires but there were some parts I could use or sell off. When I got to the seller's place the tires were new, at some time in the distance past and they looked like they didn't have any miles on them but the sidewalls were dry rotted and cracked all of the way around. The seller took pictures that didn't show this. When I told the seller the tires were junk he asked why I thought that. I pointed out the flaws and he said he couldn't see them and that he must need glasses, which I told him I agreed with him on that. Walked away from the mess with only a little over an hour wasted.
