Two tone ideas
New guy here, been watching and reading for years for tech stuff on my old 2004SD and my current 2002SD as well as my 1979 Bronco. About to pull the trigger on a new SD and I have a question for any of you who’ve had a wrap installed or done one yourself.
I’m a regular cab and gasoline kind of guy. I don’t want or need a Cadillac type rig though they are nice. I’m on the scout for probably an STX or XL value package rig since I do consider cruise and power locks more or less necessities. Though my 04 was and is my favorite truck I’ve ever owned and it was an almost completely stripped XL, crank windows and manual locks, no cruise or A/C, 5.4/6sp,and vinyl floor. It was a 4x4 and did have cloth seats.
Anyways, the number one thing I miss about old trucks that isn’t offered on new ones is a real TuTone paint scheme like the 70’s F series had. In my shopping I found a dealer in KS that had a dealer installed package on an STX regular cab they called their “Highboy” package. It was blue jeans and silver and was stunning. I immediately fell in love and had to have it. Sadly it sold before I could make the 500 mile round trip to go make a deal on it.
So now I’m looking for a deal on a Blue Jeans truck with the 6.2 and 4.30s. When I find one I’ll level it and put a set of 35s on 17” Classic IIs and run it for the next 8 or 10 years. But it would absolutely make my day if I could get a two tone wrap like the one I missed out on.
Have any of you guys done anything like this? I have a buddy who’s a great body guy, he says find your vinyl and bring it to the shop and we’ll put it on some evening. But I have no idea where to source it. Is there any one brand that’s better or one to watch out for?
Thanks in advance for any help.

has 3.73, but new for $33.6k it’s a good deal.

Yep the chrome roll bar was the only item I was going to have to ditch. Just too 80s for me. The one in the link is so close but I can’t do the open diff. I’m off road at least once a week getting to a fishing hole or hunting spot or doing farm and ranch work. I’d be a buyer and even happier if Ford still offered a limited slip in the front as well as the rear.
My Bronco has LS diffs front and back from the factory and it’ll climb and claw through some nasty stuff. Just isn’t long enough to haul 10’ surf rods or reliable enough to hop in and head out on a 1500 mile hunting trip.

I saw the truck that you describe. It looks great in the video. They have a video of a highboy too.
Being a guy from back in those days, it really jumped right out at me too. I had a 77 Ranger XLT that was crimson red as the main color with silver as the accent color. I had the hood painted silver and then added a red stripe on the hood. It was “the truck”! I also had a 79 250 highboy that was all crimson red. That truck with muddier tires would go anywhere. The 79 was one of their best designs. If they brought it back, it would sell out.
i still have the 88 that wifey bought brand new for me out of the dealer’s showroom.
Just a month ago, wifey bought me a new 350 Lariat 2 tone with the works!
Why don’t you order the truck that you want from that dealer? They seem very accommodating.

A dealership in KS has the "Classic Edition" where it applies a 3M vinyl wrap onto the factory paint. I think it also adds a level, BFG tires, and maybe a couple of other things and charges $10K for this option package. Presumably, a person could do the 3M wrap independently for much less than $10K:
I think I saw a Blue Jeans/White version of this classic 2-tone online once, but don't see it now.
A dealership in Texas did this one. Based on the KC lights, Warn winch, big tires, custom rims, lift kit, and other stuff, I'd expect this to be north of $20K for the "high boy" option package (though it's just a guess):

79 - there are specialty vinyl companies that can do an entire truck in anything on vinyl, even photographs. They are around. Adding a vinyl center section would be an easy job for experts who wrap entire trucks.
This company has 6 trucks that are wrapped in vinyl printed with photos and logos and lettering.
