I also have found out that for the 78/79 Bronco it was available as a Custom or Ranger XLT model only. They did not offer the Ranger package only on the Bronco.
Uh huh...
Pic: What is this...a mirage?

Notice that the part number for the Bronco Ranger emblem is D8TZ-16720-B .. If there was no Bronco Ranger for 1978, why would there be a 1978 part number for the emblem?

Ridiculous! No parts catalog, no clue. So called 'expert' needs to

Ok I am sure he will see your find ND and be corrected on his info. Or I will pass it along to him. Thanks.

Why does the parts catalog NOT show a "Bronco Custom" plate? Or is that a different page?

Different page Kemosabe.

This pic shows two of the emblems, but lists the part numbers for all three.

I have no horse in the race...but isnt the XLT emblem plate separate from the Bronco Ranger plate? Or is each separate? So wouldn't there be a part number for the Bronco Ranger plate separate from just the XLT? Even if they only offered it as a Ranger XLT package?

BRONCO
RANGER

BRONCO
CUSTOM

Are connected together when mounted on the cowl, as in a one piece/2 part badge. Bronco is above either other badge. Yes XLT is a separate badge all together.

All three nameplate part numbers are listed in the parts catalog pic in post #18:

D8TZ-16720-A .. Bronco Custom Nameplate = 1978/79

D8TZ-16720-B .. Bronco Ranger Nameplate = 1978/79.

D7TZ-16720-BD .. XLT Nameplate = 1977/79 F100/350 & 1978/79 Bronco.

Yes, but that doesnt equate to there being Bronco Rangers being offered without XLT trim. If we are going by that logic, then there could be Bronco Custom XLTs, but I dont think that happened.

Point is, the parts book is just that. A parts book. It doesnt tell you everything. Yes, you can glean a whole lot of info from it and you may be right. But being rude to people isnt what this forum should be about. We all appreciate your knowledge and input, but there is a way to do pass on that knowledge with more tact.

We should acknowledge that not everyone knows everything about these trucks and be positive about correcting errors. If we all knew everything, there would be no need for a forum.

Bronco Rangers came with Race Track Mouldings. XLT's came with upper body side mouldings with black vinyl inserts and wheel opening mouldings. Bronco Customs did not come with any side mouldings.

The upper fender and door mouldings with the black vinyl inserts used on 1973/76 F100/350 Ranger XLT's were also used with Race Tracks.

Notice the D3TZ (1973) part number prefixes for these mouldings in posts #16 & #18.

Bronco Ranger was the most expensive, came with Race Track mouldings.

The factory punched out holes in the sheet metal for mouldings, while dealers and owners drilled out the holes, so will have burrs on the backside of the sheet metal.
Plus, over the years some people added mouldings, some people removed mouldings, then filled in the holes.
The Bronco Ranger XLT in the pic did NOT come with any Race Trac mouldings. Guess maybe the original owner ordered it that way? Could you order it that way? No sign that any holes were factory punched, then filled in. Yes it HAD upper body side and wheel wheel mouldings.

This is what the parts catalog pic shows:

BRONCO RANGER with Race Track Mouldings. AFAIK, there was no such thing as a Bronco Ranger XLT, so it's possible that someone added the Bronco Ranger nameplate.

This Bronco is 41 years old, has probably had multiple owners...and you know how some people love to swap parts around.

I've never owned a Bronco, only driven one once, rented it from Hertz 12/91 while vacationing in CO

When I-70 suffered a white-out, I had to read the owners manual to figure out how the 4WD worked.

Regardless of what the parts manual shows, that Bronco had, front bench/folder seat, carpet, kick panel carpet, glove box trim ring (plastic one), glove box door wood grain overlay, wood grain vinyl over lay with chrome piece on the doors, a/c, brown sun visors and headliner. Chrome Sport rear bumper. Had only 90,000 miles on it. Black large size head type 9 mirrors. Cruise control added on aftermarket to the t/s lever. NEVER looks to have had race trac trim.

I'm confused now. Your post 22 has the XLT nameplate listed for broncos.

It seems like I've seen alot of broncos with the XLT badge.

Sorry, I just misread your post.

Anyway, I think the broncos make a nice addition to the forum and I sure would like to have one now that I have kids to haul around.
