A funny story with my new truck...
I get home and see these weird looking things in the headliner, 4 small holes, they look shiny, maybe like they are push to activate map lights. I look and look in the manual, it refers to map lights, but nothing specific. I can't figure out what they are. I have pushed and pushed, there is some plastic in there, did they forget to remove it? I tried with tweezers, nope, it didn't want to come out. I have to go back so they can put on "resistall". I ask the salesguy what is this? He follows me to the truck. He is someone who I knew previous to buying the truck, sadly I think I was his first Super Duty Truck sale. So he gets into the truck, he has a thought maybe they are speakers for the cell phone blue tooth feature. A logical thought I think to myself. He took a picture with his phone and said he would check into it and get back to me.
The next day, nothing from the guy. So I bug him, any luck? He messages me that they are magnets to hold things in place, nothing else.
So I know there is no way Ford has done this much work for these things to be MAGNETS. It took me about an hour of searching...…… they are infared sensors for the interior security alarm. I message him this, he tells me he will be getting in touch with the guy he called, as he should have known better than to tell him that. Really...….. WTF

Sounds like a guy who won't be selling vehicles for long...just a stop between "real" jobs. I'm sure that if you had looked in your owners manual you could have saved yourself some time.

BIGKEN- One would think the owners manual would have been useful. I searched and searched through it, then on a youtube video someone had popped the upper console open to mess with the upfitter switches and I could see wires and "something" where the sensors are. I then took to searching for schematics and found the parts number which identified it as the infared sensor. I had a different post and it was verified. A couple other posts were that they were speakers or that the sales guy gave someone else bad info.
After identifying what it was I went back through the owners manual and was not able to find anything that would have helped earlier.
It's through the sharing of information and knowledge in posts like this that's great.
useless owners manual..... My prior truck, a 12 F-350 had a locking tailgate, you locked it with a key, I liked it for it's little added security. The new truck said locking tailgate on the window sticker. I get home and I can't find the key hole. In the manual where it shows a key hole, I have a light that comes on when the doors open, it's nice, it illuminates the ground well. But I think to myself, this tailgate has a camera, it's more likely to be stolen, I really wanted the tailgate lock. Nowhere can I find it to say it locks and unlocks with the passenger door. I went to open it one time (before having gone back to the dealer and asking) and it was locked. It didn't take but a moment for me to realize.... ahhh, no key lock, it's wired in. Great! something else electronic to fail. That's probably why the tailgate cover plate was removed and sprayed with liner separately so if the tailgate lock fails in the "locked" position it can be disassembled.

Good morning Pats fans...cold enough for 'ya???
You'd think the owners manual would be your go to source. I'd let Ford know of my dissatisfaction.

WOW!!! Is that Dan twice in a couple weeks??? -4 when I rolled out of bed this morning...but...it had warmed up to 16* by the time I left the condo...at 0930. One of the advantages of being retired...I can generally stay in later...unless it's a "work" morning.
