Heavy Service front springs. Yay or Nay?

Ordering a truck this week and have narrowed it down to an F250 Platinum 6.7.

I will never put a bumper or plow on it but I’ve heard of people bottoming out the base 5200# front springs regularly. I will put a 1 inch or 1.5 inch lift on the front and some 285/65/20s which are about a half inch bigger than stock.

I was wanting the camper package but mainly for the rear springs; I realize you can’t get that on a Platinum though on the Ford website? If I could it would come with the 5600# front heavy service springs. I definitely do not want the 5990# plow springs.

I am thinking if I can’t get the camper package I should just enjoy the better riding 5200# springs. Unless people have issues bottoming them out on occasion which would drive me nuts. Example hopping a curb at work with a light load and feeling the springs bottom out.

If you’re going to raise it anyway, I’d just get whatever it comes with and plan to raise it with a spring kit vs a spacer. I’d do the SPP personally because those springs you could probably sell for a few bucks on eBay, plus you get the bigger alternators. Just a thought.

I don’t think they are worth much. Like $90 a piece new. I get the dual extra heavy duty alternators with the rapid supplemental cab heat.

Anyone make 1 inch lift coil springs?

I want to do a 1 inch or 1.5 inch lift, rancho 9000xl, and better trackbar.

I got the snow plow option, I can’t tell the difference between the other trucks I had tested. So it’s probably doesn’t matter. Bigger alternator - that’s always nice for pulling a trailer or RV.

No, it’s not worth it if you already get the biggest alternator option.

Off topic but you won't have squat for payload with that combination.

Also, why not get the Camper Package. Steps up the front springs and gives you overloads and an anti-roll bar in the rear. And it's cheap.

Never felt the default springs were inadequate for stock height

I want the camper package but it doesn’t show it available on the Platinum.

I can do add a leafs or bags if I need it.

The Platinum or 502A lariat is the best value for everything I want but Platinum will hold best value.

I would get the 350.
Your payload capacity will be terrible.

You cannot get camper package with 20" wheels. Platinums only come with 20" wheels.

Why would you get a Platinum when the lariat fits your needs better? Because you think it will hold more value? I'm doubtful but perhaps. It seems to me you should think about your needs now, not someone's else's when its time to sell or trade

I just sold a Lariat with every option except auto side steps. The newer super duty trucks have weird option groups so I’d be better off with a platinum as I only need a couple options. I will forgo the airbag seatbelts as I heard they mess with baby seats and that will be in my 5 year plan.

I don’t want to pay insurance on an F350 as this is a company truck. I won’t exceed the GAWR which makes me think I may actually want to get the heavy front springs...

Does anyone know if the max trailer rear axle increases GAWR.

My 2017 F350 Lariat CCSB had HD front springs (5600 lb) and 18” wheels
I ordered my 2019 F350 with standard springs (5200 lb) and 18” wheels.

The 2019 rides a little nicer and handles better. I haven’t ever bottomed out the front end.

Thank you.

Did it have an effect on payload?

The fabled little yellow sticker.
