78 F100 Bellcrank assembly
Hey guys,
Was just curious if anyone had redone their bell crank assembly.
I see I am missing a grease fitting but I was curious if you could disassble the what I am assuming is the bearing on the bottom end. Is it supposed to move freely or is it just a pivot point?

Thanks for the reply.
This assembly is part of the power brake the lower hole where I think the bearing is bolts on the lower part of the bracket that bolts to the firewall. The upper hole has a clevis pin that connects to the booster and the center hole connects to the brake pedal in the cab.
I've seen this assembly referred to as the "bell crank" for brakes. I don't know if this is the correct term for it.

Thanks for the reply and image. I love seeing these factory manual diagrams when they have what I want!
As far as to where it is in the diagram it looks like that the 2005 its a three part unit with the arm attaching to the pedal and then to a mystery assembly and then finally the booster.
2L109 looks like the bolt that goes through the bottom of that assembly if I am seeing that right.
In the pictures I uploaded that is where I think the bolt goes thru.
So any idea if I can take that apart? If so what would I need for replacement parts?

To answer your original question, this is just a pivot point and doesn't contain a bearing or bushing.
Ford never sold the bell crank assembly or parts for it over the counter. To get the assembly you had to buy the booster (basic P/N 2005 in the illustration).
Also, 2L109 is actually a seal for the pushrod where it goes through the firewall. See that black star in front of the number? That means Ford didn't sell that part over the counter.

Thanks for the reply Mike!
I had seen your pictures while I was trying to search around for my question. Excellent job on the resto on the parts.
I have still been struggling with a pedal that will not return, new master, new booster, and now greased bellcrank, all the repairs I could think of or others have done to get their brakes back on track, aside from using a bungee and doing a hack job.
Any suggestions?

Other than making sure the M/C pushrod and the rear drum brakes are adjusted correctly, it sounds like you've pretty much covered everything else.
EDIT: One other thing, is this the original brake pedal? If it isn't, I've heard of this problem being caused by the incorrect brake pedal being installed. There are a bunch of different pedals out there.

Just as an update
I disassembled the bellcrank assembly and lubed all the joints and included nylon bushings where necessary.
After putting it all back together I still did not have a pedal that would return!
So I adjusted the booster rod to .940ish, still no pedal return.
Took a break and put the dash back together only to take the door panels off.
Wifey came out to check on me and I was explaining to her how the brakes work and there was a squeaking coming from the bellcrank.
Decided to loosen the lower bolt and have her push on the pedal, boom we have a pedal that returns!
Thanks for all the input from all the people here!
