How exactly does regen work?

Mine always goes to 0% unless I interrupt it by putting the transmission in Park.
There is a thread in the 6.7L subforum about a product called Enerburn. It helps reduce the frequency of regens. I don't use it but I'm thinking about. The thread is an interesting read as it takes you through the thought process of how the truck goes about doing and deciding when to do a regen. Here is a link to that thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-enerburn.html

For those looking for the coffee table books, the link to them, is in the "Some Tech Info, Read First" folder, at the top of this forum.:

DEF is not part of the DPF regeneration process. DEF is sprayed into the exhaust stream of diesel vehicles to break down dangerous NOx emissions into harmless nitrogen and water. The regen process uses HEAT to burn off the soot that accumulates in the DPF and turn it into ash residue.

I know. I was just pointing out that with the OCR it is a standard screen that you don't have to add after the fact.
