Chrome Trim Drip Rails

Anybody have experience with drip rails that have the chrome trim on them? I have them on my supercab and was able to remove....I thought, carefully, but impossible not to distort it a bit. I don't think I will be able to reinstall without completely destroying them. Can't say I've seen them for sale anywhere either. Need some help here. Thanks.

Hey welcome back, its jimmy over here in abbotsford. Those are a real pain to put on. I can,t offer any good advice cause I ruined a pair of them years ago. Do you have it out of the ruble where you can work on it yet? I,d still like to come by and see it sometime.

Holy moly, those SuperCab drip moldings on eBay are nuts! $195 for shipping is crazy!

CAVEAT EMPTOR! Let the buyer beware.

Carpenter's pic shows a Regular Cab, but the Ford part number he listed is the right side drip rail moulding for a 1973/79 F250/350 CREW Cab:

D3TZ-2551726-A .. Right Side Crew Cab Drip Rail Moulding.

Ford truck parts catalog sez:

Nobody makes them or sells them. Even if you find them listed, they don't actually carry them. I've looked a long time. And yes that e-bay listing is stupid expensive. Check with some of the folks offering parts on the sales forum. I bought a pair for about $60. About the same to ship given the shape and what it takes to protect them.

Still haven't tried to put them on. I'm also interested if someone knows the trick.

I just finished painting my '79. I took all trim off, and like you I bent it up a bit. I was able to straighten the passenger side enough to get it back on. The driver side not so much. I have a donor truck but I haven't tried to get the trim off until I figure a better way of removing it without ruining it. Last year I painted my '66 Mustang and the drip rail trim was easy to remove, so I figured the truck would be the same. NOT!!

I thought the passenger side went on fairly easy. Hang the top side over the rail and the bottom snaps on. I used a rubber hammer in a few places that was being stubborn. I started where it bends around the window and worked both ways from there.

I hope someone chimes in with the proper way to remove the trim.

I had removed mine with piece of 1 X 2. Tapping on end of it with hammer. Wood is soft. Try at your own risk.

I've been on Dennis Carpenter's case about the super cab drip rail mouldings for the last decade, and they still haven't done anything about it. At first, they said that there was a problem with the tooling (which is nonsense if they have the "original Ford tooling" like they claim). Next, over seven years ago, there was supposedly a problem with their aluminum supplier, who could not provide the aluminum they needed. Then, over five years ago, they told me that they were having stamping problems with the aluminum.......BUT...... they kept right on advertising that they had supercab drip rail mouldings. After more than 10 years of asking them for updates, I gave up because I got tired of the fertilizer. No single, no moving elements, non-electronic part in the history of the world should have taken that long to sort out........... so, I just did without.........I think the truck looks good anyway, so no big deal, but it's been really annoying. Sorry I don't have better news than that.

So I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one have difficulties here. I took them off as carefully as I could but they flex-bend too much to get off well. Once they become over distorted they are not going to look good on, if I can even put them back on! I don't think they 'clip' on that easy, if that's even the way they were installed. Maybe installed differently at the Ford? Does anyone really know how they are installed originally?
