You know for the first time in a while i woke up feeling alright. Should've known I'd get smited for it.

Once cooled I did run it and and slap/knock went away. Gonna test compression tomorrow and see if I've killed the rings or not. We might get away with it.

I don't believe it.

It's fine.

I haven't done the compression test yet but hot damn we have some divine intervention here, i really thought it was dead.

And for good measure I've now lost the clutch master cylinder somehow.

I wish to get off this ride.

It's not just the truck. Jag's been up on blocks since december waiting on some stupid crush washers so i can put the IRS back together. Rolls is trapped above it, i've been trying to get a new floor for the Dodge out of a junkyard for over a year, the DeSoto is trapped in machine shop hell and the thunderbird is trapped in bodyshop hell.

I suffer.

So I replaced the clutch master, properly bench bled it and fit the seal to the flex line. And the exact same problem remains. However, the pedal was briefly ok until I bled the slave, after which it became limp again.

Is there a thing i'm not aware of where using a vaccum bleeder kills a hydrolic clutch? The slave looks bone dry. There's no sign of where the fluid loss was originally, or where it's going now.

What's going on here?

Is there supposed to be a return spring on your clutch pedal? Did the master return like it should when you bench bled it? Just observation on my part. I'm not familiar with your setup.

Only hydraulic clutches I've had are Toyota. They are notoriously hard to bleed but I never had trouble. I just hook everything up, fill the master and open the bleeder on the slave to gravity bleed it. Once it starts dripping fluid out the slave, I'll close the bleeder, pump it a few times, then bleed it again having the pedal held down. I don't think it will gravity bleed if the master plunger is depressed though and why I mentioned the pedal not coming back up.

Maybe this helps? All I got. I hope you get it figured out.

Alright fixed it.

Tried bleeding it with the vaccum pump from the top of the system instead of the supplied bleed screw at the bottom, and pulled lots of air out of the line. So the service manual reccomended way of bleeding is a big fat lie. Thank you Ford.

Right as rain now. Hopefully I can now get off of Mr Bones Wild Ride.

Now that Sketchy suffering time is over, it's time to return to Jaguar suffer town.

Paid a Jaguar shop 600 bucks to rebild my stub shafts, finally got them back today. Reassembled my differential only to find that one of the eight yoke bolts is not properly pressed into the flange. The whole ****ing thing has to come apart and we have to do this dance again. And the big car show is next friday.

Real ****in' neato.

Would that not " tighten up" or suck in when it's installed or is it not possible to get it started ?

Yeah that's what i'm going to try, but it's press fit, i'm not sure it would be sufficient force. Those bolts also locate the driveshaft which is also the upper control arm. Can't have it off square.

My current plan is just to cut 1/8" off the head to buy back the missing clearance and torque it down with red lock tight, maybe even a tack weld. It's stupid but the least worst option. Let it be said I did the wrong thing the right way.

Needless to say, the price for failure here is that bolt backing off into the diff, the right rear locking up and I go into a ditch and die. What fun.

upon further investigation it is in fact flush with the yoke, and when pressed in with the crowbar it stuck there. meaning the hole itself is enlarged.

i'm going to torque it down and give it a little tack weld for safety, i think that's best
